Vini
Hi all, New here, but a self proclaiming -experienced- PC user, but having stumbled into a Mac store to get out of the rabble in the sales only last week, and finding out about this whole OSx86 scene that's been hidden away from me. I quite fancy giving it a bash. My spec is: AMD x2 4600+ (939) Abit Av8 3rd Eye Geforce 2 MX 400 (AGP) 2gb OCZ From the 5 minutes I've read on this forum, it seems the Abit Av8 is capable of running OSx86 albeit without ethernet support and the 4600+ may need a core disabling to run smoothly (?) Anyhow, I'm hoping you guys can clear this up for me, and perhaps give me an insight as to whether or not this will work? Also, what is the best Image to try? Many thanks for your time! tayklor
the JaS 10.4.6 image works fine. I am not an AMD user but it worked with my Intel Cel. D. You will be lucky if your video card works. you might want iLife 06 also. You will need to format your hard drive. Vini
I've grabbed 10.4.7 (JaS) and have partitioned some space on a vista/xp drive, hopefully this will be ok. Will have a play tonight. It might be easier for myself to install it on an external drive and boot from USB... Vini
...and even better put ur disk into verbose mode when booting to see where the issue is ta for the tip! will need to get a working image first. the 10.4.7 i got wasnt even recognised as being bootable. when i tried to open the iso in ultraiso, it just said 'corrupt or unreadable' - so i think the actual image i had was a duffer Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/37462-looking-to-try-osx86/#findComment-267872 Share on other sites
