Hello, i finally built me a rig to just run osx86.

Mobo: Asus P5GV-MX

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.66ghz LGA775 socket SSE3(?)

1GB Ram

GMA900

Thermatake 430watt p.s

cheap ass case :-)

Jas 10.4.6 native install

Hitachi 160GB SATA HD

WOW all i gotta say WOW. OSX runs soooo smooth on this rig. everything works. sound, ethernet, core image, quartz, all resolutions are avaible (running at 1600x1200 on my samsung 20" LCD) this is huge step, comming from a 550mhz powerbook, and a B&W G3 @450mhz. Only thing that bothers me though is that my cpu im using, according to Intel docs, its a SSE3 cpu. my system profiler says only SSE2. when i installed the system, i first clicked on the sse3 patch, but the thing wouldnt boot, then i re-install and clicked onthe ss2 patch on the jas 10.4.6 dvd, and it worked. but i checked and i chekced and all LGA775 socket cpu's are sse3 according to intel. is there any way to turn on ss3? or its just a quirk of the install? i gotta say, 'feels' like a new iMac at the very least.

ah thats what i thought. itunes 7 works just as good as it does on my friends quad mac pro. smooth as butter. so yes i think its running on sse3. on my previous atemp on a sse2 amd machine, itunes 7 wouldnt even work. im still amazed how well this thing works. my old school BT dongle, pluged in BAM works no problems. i just need a nicer case with better airflow, this one is kinda {censored}. but im REALLY happy.
