it has a very interesting piece of file named: apple80211.h

it is a reverse engineered copy of the original closed source apple80211.h

i think you should give it a look.

i don't know if i can upload it to here since i don't know how legal it is, but you can find it i KisMac svn repository.

Nice, heres a link to save time looking for it. https://svn.binaervarianz.de/kismac/trunk/S...ty/Apple80211.h

Hey .. an iwi3945 user!!

Let me give some fback.

With new kernel 8.9.1.. its working.

This Apple80211.h, could be a good thing to get the driver to work with applemenu or sort of, isnt?

I dont know how to code.. but again if there's anything that i can do to help, i would glad to!!..

does it really works?

are you only updating your kernel or your mac os also to 10.4.9?

please please please confirm..

this is a really great news....

Hi and a big thanks to all for their amazing work. I installed the latest 2100 kext and the following are the files you asked for. I also included a chipset report which i hope may be of use. I have the Airport icon on the taskbar but no connection. I get the correct MAC address in Network. Please let me know if there is any more i can do to assist you guys.

system.txt

ioreg.txt

dmesg.txt

Chipset_Report.txt

im using 8.9.1 kernel and the driver is loaded but airport is inactive and cannot be activated. And Airport isnt listable in the network menu. Still doesnt find any network.

edit: im using 10.4.9 kext and framework + airport update 2007-2. As jalavoui said there were'nt any .7 files required.

Atm the driver's cannot use the AirPort menu properly because it's closed source. So this isn't a big problem the driver will never be able to use the airport menu correctly unless apple released the src or we can get the Apple80211.h reverse engineered header for the Apple80211 private framework to work.

little update about the apple80211.h:

well it seems like that our hopes for an airport menu will remain as hopes after all.

the reason is this, this header should allow us to change networks if iplemented and should allow us

to use the airport menu, but, it seems like that originaly (in real airports) it uses some an application to link between the driver and the menu, and it is that application that implements the header and not the driver since the header contains frameworks that cannot be included in a kernel extension driver.

so it's back to the drawing board and again to try and write a custom app to do the network changing.

my hope is that apple open the io80211 framework

until there we should find a way to build a interface for iwi drivers

iwi3945/iwi2100

i've seen in logs:

ifconfig up

there's no need to type this in console

the driver is not meant to be bring up in terminal with ifconfig

the enable() and disable() are called by the driver when needed

iwi2100 - rev 226

i've changed ipw2100_hw_send_command() to allow commands to be send
