Rammjet
Picture says: "Unable to find driver for this..." What is rest of that sentence? What iso are you trying to install from? How about using VMWare to perform the installation. You should not need to run VMWare after successful installation: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11314 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36900-kernel-panic/#findComment-262407 Share on other sites

Rammjet
What kind of computer? Is it a laptop? If not, what kind of mouse and keyboard? Can you turn off or modify power management in BIOS? Try booting the DVD using the options: platform=ACPI -v -f Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36900-kernel-panic/#findComment-262428 Share on other sites

Rammjet
OSX hates a mixture of USB mouse with PS/2 keyboard. Arrange it so that both are USB or both are PS/2 so that you can complete the installation. After successful installation, there are modifications that can be made to allow a USB mouse with a PS/2 keyboard (see Keyboard link in my signature) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36900-kernel-panic/#findComment-262459 Share on other sites

Matthew-N
I just tried to install osx86 in my second computer, is a HP, and I got the same problem. It does work in VMWare but not native. As what I know so far, I think the cause of this is the "Advanced Configuration and power interface" in the bios. It works in VMWare is because Vmware use different bios setting, and it doesn't use ACPI, it boot in X86PC Mode. You see what I mean if you hold F2 when you boot your OSX in VMWare. Also check your system Extension and you will see some files have the name "ACPI" in it. Now we only can wait for solution..... angus.myers
so basically it's becasue the pc is a HP. that would explain why i couldnt even get 10.4.1 on it just now using the tiger-x86.img. Even that wouldnt work. So we just gotta hang on without mac on HP computers?!? And i would just like to say thankyou for an answer. all i wanted was an explination (im that sorta guy). So will you keep me posted with further info?!? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36900-kernel-panic/#findComment-264560 Share on other sites
Matthew-N
Ya sure. Now im trying to mess with the BIOS see if I can make it work, hope I won't mess it up I will get back to you as soon as possible if I get any luck. Matthew-N
I just found out that the OSX86 default boot is ACPI. Now what im going to do is im going to run a little test, first disable ACPI in VMware, then use platform=X86PC see if it work. If does, Im going to disable ACPI in Windows XP and force OSX86 to boot native mode with platform=X86PC. I get back to you soon. Matthew-N
humm.....it doesn't work. what I thinking now is when I disable ACPI in VMware, OSX86 will show up "Unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI"" When I enable it, it boots fine. So maybe our ACPI is not on or not compatible with the OSX86, so lead to native boot/install fail. I know how to turn off ACPI but I have no idea how to turn it on.....maybe is already turned on but is not compatible with OSX86.... I am looking at this website: Test My Hardware and it might give us some information as to wether ACPI is enabled or disabled. I am just in the middle of re-installing windows on to my HP (AGAIN) so i cant test it right now but i will when im up and running. Matthew-N
Thanks for letting me know the test my hardware. I checked my ACPI, is version 1.0 so maybe this version is not compatible with the OSX86. I wondering if we could make a post and tell the people who can run in native to test their ACPI version.
