Get the IP address of your xbox. Lets say it is 10.10.10.10.

In OSX, go to the Go menu -> Connect to Server

Type in the address: ftp://10.10.10.10

It should prompt you for your user/pass which for most "mods" is xbox/xbox

Otherwise, the FTP client Transmit works fine too.

The internet has nothing to do with it.

Normally you would have set up a network with all of your devices connected together on the network through a router and maybe, one of the connections to the network just happens to be to the internet. If the devices are all interconnected, just type what we said above.

If you try to connect directly to the Xbox rather that through the network, you might need a special ethernet cable called a crossover cable. It depends upon the capability of the ethernet card in your computer.

In order to FTP to your Xbox, you should have successfully modded the Xbox to give it the FTP capability. If you haven't, then you cannot FTP to the Xbox.

Perhaps you aren't experienced enough in modding an Xbox and setting up a network in order to accomplish this.

I know I'm not experienced enough cause I had someone else do it for me. I tried asking the guy but he knows not how to do it on a MAC or thats what he told me. I thank you for your help, and have tried what you mentioned above but it cannot connect with my xbox. I know that it has FTP abilities cause thats how the guy transfered all the programs on it.

  • 2 weeks later...

As long as your xbox and computer plug in to the router, you do not need a special cable, just regular ethernet.

The router issues each computer or xbox within your private network a local ip address. Usually a 192.168.x.x or 10.10.10.x number.

As xphillyx said, find that number and use whatever client you choose, put in you uname and password and you should be logged in.
