ok so let me start off by saying im no coder, or programmer not even close. However i have been dealing with pc's/windows for about 10 years now. I ran accross this site by accident when looking to buy a macbook. WOW what a shock. For the last 4 days straight now i have been consumed by trying my tail off to get this to work, thus far i have gotten the 10.4.6 to install (multiple times). The 10.4.8DVD will simply not get past the the install screen, as in once it is installed...it goes right back to the installer, never boots to the OS.

Anyways im roughing it out now looking for either a working 10.4.8 for my AMD thats fairly (and i use that term loosly on here) stable. along with a geforce 6200 kernel that works, i have had zero luck with either titan or natit. over the ss3 is quite fast and the system is very very impressive

heres what im running

ASUS A8V Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro ATX AMD Motherboard - OEM

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 2.0GHz Socket 939 Processor

Geforce 6200

regardless any points in the right direction would help,

i have been digging through them like mad man for info.

if you install and dont select the right patches during install your system will not boot i realised this after googling os x jas not booting.

which makes sence only install the intel patches if you have intel machine or amd patches if you have amd pc. i also got some info on the viaata driver which is in another post on making the sata work if you have the nforce board with out the nforce drivers working fine for me

asus a8n mobo

1gb ram

amd 64 3000

realtek network pci <--- $5 and it works nforce lan you :D

are you loading up the cd ??

eject the cd, if this is the case

My suggestion to you is: use the TUBGirl AMD distro from Myzar and inject the semthex SSE2 kernel before installing. The installation runs flawless, but you might need to work at the network, sound and video capabilities. This worked for me AMD Athlon 64 3000+ sse2 only... Network (RTL8139) running... Sound (AC97) running... Video(Radeon 9250) running with Callisto stuck to one resolution though, but working on it...

System runs rocksteady !

Goodluck !

Thanks for the quick response guys!

Ok so while i download the tubgirl version i'm going to try and reinstall the 10.4.6 since that works flawless everytime. And here is where i need some suggestions. With the SSE3 the OSx86 flies! and i like that alot. I think i would rather take the speed over the update? Or does that sound crazy?

So i guess the next logical question is there a laid out guid on how to update from the 10.4.6 SSE3 to a 10.48 SSE3?

The nesxt order of buisness is the sound card, i cant seem to get the *$ing sound blaster to get off its high horse.

So ive got what appears AC97 type card. I have tried a few kexts for this but its says that kext has already been installed.

Now i did have the liberty of getting the drivers from the Asus site for all the windows drivers, specifically the Marvell Yukon (in case anybody can use that for a kext for OSx86 maybe?) along with a few others if anybody can use them.

And finally the video card. I might just bee SOL on this one seeing as nvidia cards are not the product of choice for OSx86. But any advice would help. I have tried the Natit and the Titan although i found out why Titan wont work (Dawrin 8.8.1 i think is what i read)

So Titan is out, however the Natit either says "this kext could not be installed properly, please try re-installing it" or i get stuck at a loading screen after booting with -x

So those are my battles. Overall this is a kick ass project and hope to help further it.
