retroz
Its been a while since I've posted (besides yesterday ...anyway, got a a version (PHOTOSHOP CS3) from him and can probably get someone here who helps me a version too, he works for Adobe in Boston. Yes, I know there is a beta but am talking about the real deal. Here is the problem.... It needs 10.4.8, I have (see specs below) a perfect running machine...and its been a while since I researched (I did search the forums though) on the best and easiest way to update to 10.4.8 but can't find the links anymore. There were some on USENET JAS 10.4.8, but not sure if thats just plug in play as in install and done. What is the best way - - the REAL PROBLEM is I have AUDIO/VIDEO work that can not, simply can not be lost with boot errors and am questioning whether it is worth it since I have CS2 running, although slow, but I have FCP, Drums, Plugs, Unison, Pages, iLIFE, etc and do not want to mess that up. Your help and links on "how to" greatly appreciated.....I did the TERMINAL update so its not as though I am inept, I just dont want to reinstall the hours of software I have should I make a boo-boo. Thanks! PS. I found this link and do NOT know where to begin...much more info than going from 10.4.4 to 10.4.6 http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34871 After looking at the above thread, I became overwhelmed as there seemed to be no clear way to update as was the case for 10.4.6 and using a few terminal commands.....therefore I would appreciate if some kind soul would look at my specs and help me to figure out the best way to update to 10.4.8......waiting for the new MB to arrive at my store (duo core 2) or maybe a 24 inch iMAC anyway, but for the time being I have some critial apps and files on here and do not want to risk corruption of this maching until my real mac comes. Rammjet
The latest JaS DVD supports SSE3 on Intel. And he issued a Combo updater to take an older good installation and get 10.4.8 with SSE2. Follow the 10.4.8 link in my signature for all things about 10.4.8. Seems like a lot of info on doing this - - (updating), still need to find the JaS DVD requested it on usenet! Anyway, will the DVD be enough and on a scale of 1-10 (1 easy-10 difficult) how would you rate this upgrade? Upgrading to 10.4.6 was a 2 for me, using terminal etc. Also heard rumors that the newer JaS dvd had all the instructions....In your opinion, how certain giving my config that this will go hitch free and no create a meltdown? Thanks again. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36168-need-help-installing-1048-from-1046/#findComment-257883 Share on other sites

And he issued a Combo updater to take an older good installation and get 10.4.8 with SSE2. Follow the 10.4.8 link in my signature for all things about 10.4.8. A few things... First, still trying to locate the JaS DVD or image, it was on Usenet for a while, now I can not find it... The second thing is following your link leads to many different options and being a techinical person while also feeling "uncomfortable" about TRYING to UPGRADE to 10.4.8 makes me feel sort of like a USA Nasa Houston Space Shuttle Admin, where I just can't give myself the GREEN LIGHT to go forward with this. I guess it would not matter if this Hack was just that, a hack with nothing to lose, but I have built it up so well to run FCP, Logic, Digital Performer, etc, that the thought of crashing this gives me the "heebie jeebies" so am still unclear as to the proper procedure, especially since I have Photoshop and Dreamweaver (that I use for a client or two) that works, albeit slower, and this upgrade would be simply for the PhotoShop CS3 and am not sure if it is worth the RISK, plus any other benifits that come with 10.4.8. Anyone please feel free to chime in. MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR! "...we have heard on high....
