You must go to Customize and choose packages for your computer. Click the little arrow next to the patches category. Choose Intel or AMD packages, not both. Choose SSE2 or SSE3, not both, depending upon the capability of your processor. Choose the Combo update to get the latest version of OSX on the DVD. Choose other packages only if you are sure your computer can use them.

 

VMWare runs with Windows drivers, so it may function even though you haven't chosen correctly in Customize:

not the best comp around, but i think it should be able to handle osx86? :)
