Eddddy
Well I have mac os 10.4.6 on my pc, installed fine and all that, but when connection to the internet I cant get it to work! Under network I click "Network Status" and it says "Built in eithernet" with a orange dot beside it, this means its seeing my card, just not full connect right? so I went to TCP/IP tab, after clciking configure and I have it set to "Using DHCP" and it is giving me an ip address ( not the ip for the router, its own ) and I have a subnet mask as well ( 55.255.255.0 ). So why is it not connecting? I went through those wizards and stuff but the did not help much, Oh my mac connects stright to my router ( my router is set up on a diff PC running windows xp ) and then my router goes to the DSL. any help would be great! thanks! Rammjet
Try setting an IP "manually with DHCP". Set the IP to one that the router would normally issue and press Enter. If it finds the router than it will fill in the mask and gateway fields. If that doesn't work, try setting totally manually where you also fill in the mask and gateway addresses. In both cases, remember to click the Apply button Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36032-ip-address-with-no-internet/#findComment-256377 Share on other sites
Eddddy
thanks for your quick responce, unforunly neither worked When using DHCP with manual mode it finds the subnet by itself ( using the ip of 192.168.0.4) so I tried totally manualy and i used the ip of 192.168.0.104 Sub: 255.255.255.0 Router: 192.168.0.10 and the DNS field I left blank but just for kicks I tired inserting the DNS number that came with my ISP book. any other suggestions or am I totally screwed? l0l, Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36032-ip-address-with-no-internet/#findComment-256384 Share on other sites
