GMPOWER
I have been watching this since the beginning, and would love to see it go forward. I have a HP Pavilion dv6113us with the mcp51 controller, and would love to be able to install OS X on it. I don't have the knowledge to come up with a driver, but I do have a ton of time to test. Faralla
Wow, I finally made these 36 pages. I hope I got most of it now. But I still have my question open: What is the staus for NForce4-SLi INTEL? There were some guys writing about problems which use the Asus P5ND2-SLI, which I have, too. But I didn´t read any success reports. Do I assume right that SATA doesn´t work on my board? I know there are these post which say that all but nForce 430 work, but I still have the feeling, that this is not true for nForce4-SLI Intel. Guest Snowski
For those who experience slow boot (hang at apple logo) enabling all the ATA and SATA channels in your BIOS will fix this. Before I disabled one ATA channel and booted from SATA and I thaught it was SATA related. I did a complete reinstall meaning putting in an ATA disk and installing OSX86 to it, then cloning it to the SATA with Hatchery (better app then Superduper) Xbench from ATA to SATA = 96 to 120 Thx to all who support this project! YureZzZ
How do I setup this driver for nfroce4? I tried to copy it in /System/Library/Extensions. Also deleted Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext. After restart it works, but next restart it says that this driver can't be loaded because it wasn't installed correctly. Also I've seen AppleNVIDIAata.kext (or something like that) on install cd (JaS 10.4.8) - is it same as your driver but from Apple? If I delete this Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext again and restart - it works. But until next restart. Faralla
Ok, to answer my own question: The driver seems to work great for NForce4-SLI Intel at least for SATA. I don´t know if booting from SATA works, since I boot from PATA. Here was one problem with the driver. It didn´t recognize to PATA port and I had very disappointing transfer rates out of the box. I had to add the id of 0x003510de to the PATA entry in Info.plist. There is one of 0x005310de already in it. Maybe this is a typo? But now I get good transfer rates on PATA, too. mlmorg
ive been reading up on this but don't know how i find out if my comp is compatible with this. i have an a8n-sli deluxe, amd 64 3200+ (sse2) jas 10.4.8 and a seagate sata (right now osx is on my pata but i have an sata just sitting there unused). Would this work with my comp? I remember seeing one person saying early on it worked for them with a similar setup...but is there any risk of not being able to boot up after? Or should I just wait? Typh
I've got everything installed and I can see the drives, however one of the disks had a second partition and I can't see that at all my osx. When I check /dev/, the disk that it is on does have something (disk1s5) but if I try to mount that, I get "Incorrect super block". What do I have to do to see the second partition? EDIT: Nevermind. The issue was that the second partition was logical (I guess). I changed it to primary and now I can see it just fine. cbmkgd
The package includes the ppf patcher app (ppf-o-matic), in windows and mac versions. You run it, and you can enter the location of the ppf patch itself, and the location of the iso (tubgirl 10.4.8 Final). Upon execution, the iso is patched. Some have reported problems with the mac version of the ppf patcher in the past; don't know if these were isolated incidents. For me, win version always worked well. /edit: but of course, do note that this medevil kext has been put by myzar in the latest tubgirl 10.4.9 ppf (available on TPB, dated 2007-05-06). So you might get this one instead. factory
Anyone knows if write in SATA is now possible? I don't understand your question.. I saw your sign and tells that you are using SATA drives.. by the way, i'm using 160GB SATA harddrive with Mac OS X 10.4.8 The only way i've found to let it work was install first the OS in PATA drive, then make sure that I've kexts for Nvidia SATA and finally clone with Carbon Copy. Hoping this info be usefull for u. bye. ffosilva
I'm downloaded REV3 drivers... Putted it in /System/Library/Extensions/, fixed permissions, verified if have mine controller in Info.plist and have, but when I try to write any data on SATA it give me an error message. Commands like rm, mv, cp... it returns 'invalid argument'. I don't know what I need to do to make it working... Note: I used Virtual Machine method to install it. When I restart, I can boot using SATA using -s mode. I type mount -uw /, but when I try to write... BOM! Invalid Argument...
