Dellius
Hey m8s ;-) When I try to exit the ysystem I always get this before shutdown. How do I fix it or it is something normal? Besides on bootup I noticed some error messages saying "family specific matching fails". Do you know how can I fix them? Rammjet
For /usr/bin, need to know what follows "/usr/bin" For "family specific" - this is an error reading configuration of your monitor. Most of us have it. Just have to live with it. Dellius
I would give you exact error logs of what I get b only if I knew a way to log the bootup errors.... Rammjet
For the /usr/bin error, you said it was on shutdown. Anyway, go to Utilities folder and find Console. Click the Logs button in the Toolbar. Examine the system.log and scroll back to the time of a reboot/shutdown and see if the error is listed. For startup errors, try going to Terminal and type: sudo dmesg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35916-usrbin-exited-abnormally-cpu-halted/#findComment-255613 Share on other sites

Rammjet
system.log is located in /var/log The output of the dmesg command is not in a log. You can record it by going to Terminal and typing: sudo dmesg > ~/Desktop/dmesg.txt then find the file on your Desktop Sounds like you have something causing crashes. In Console, click the arrow beside the /var/log item. Find the crashreporter.log and find out what it applications it wrote crash reports for. Dellius
Now the stupid terminal won't show. It launches a windows so small I cannot resize. Anyway I used X11 and here is what I got: Just remove the zip extension. They are not zipped. Here is System.log @ rapidshare because it's too big for the forum: http://rapidshare.com/files/7613302/system.log.zip.html dmesg.text.zip dmesg.text.zip Edited December 15, 2006 by Dellius Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35916-usrbin-exited-abnormally-cpu-halted/#findComment-255688 Share on other sites
Rammjet
Ahh, a LOT of "family specific matching" errors. Usually they only occur on the "display", but yours are all over the system. If it were me, I would totally reinstall and see if they go away. Be sure to pick your choices in Customize carefully. Rammjet
I find no "/usr/bin" error on shutdown, but do find one on boot. As I said earlier, there are so many different errors, if it were me, I would just reinstall. BTW - the 13 MB system.log compresses to 68 KB when zipped Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/35916-usrbin-exited-abnormally-cpu-halted/#findComment-255705 Share on other sites
