InsanelyOne
I got the JaS 10.4.8 with latest Semthex kernel working on my Dell Dimension 5150 with virtually no effort. I've been thinking about attempting an installation on my Inspiron 9300. Specs are: Mobile Intel 915GM / Pentium M 1.86Ghz NVidia GeForce Go 6800 Broadcom 440x 10/100 Sigmatel Sound Not sure about the wireless Just wondering if it's worth the hassle. Getting it running on my 5150 was easy (except for the 10 days it took to download the ISO). From what I can gather reading the forums, laptop installations are much trickier than desktops. And even then, I think I'm one of the lucky ones since virtually everything worked right out of the box... my 5150 had OSx86 up and running in 30 minutes. Any recommendations? I have an I9300, and I would definitely recommend upgrading. You can follow the guide here , but instead of installing the delta updates with pacifist, install the regular 10.4.8 combo update by itself. After installation don't reboot and delete IOPCCardFamily.kext and replace AppleSMBios.kext and IOATAFamily.kext with paulicat's. You may have to reboot twice before the OS loads, but it's worth the wait. Once you do that, you can install titan (natit didn't work well) by following this guide. You can update quicktime and iTunes. This should give you an almost fully working OSX system (except the PC Card). I may just give it a try... if I can handle the 1-2 week download of 10.4.6... keys88
You can try downloading the Jas Repack which has more seeds. InsanelyOne
Well... I think I'm about to admit defeat. I think it's too much of a hassle to try to get this Inspiron 9300 working. After installing 10.4.6 I have no sound (Sigmatel 9750), the video (NVidia GeForce Go 6800) is {censored}, and the wifi (Intel Pro 2200) doesn't work. Looks like there is no support for the sound or wireless... and it looks like you have to go through about 100 steps to get the video working right. I guess I got spoiled with my Dimension 5150 working right out of the box (with 2 VERY minor tweaks). Even with the JaS 10.4.8 SSE2 DVD coming soon, I still think the Inspiron just wasn't meant for OSx86. Think I'll install Vista.
