From what I can Google, it definitely is a memory problem - something about unable to allocate shared memory which looks like a kernel function.

It is either a problem with the new kernel, or adding the RAM broke something (does System Profiler recognize all 3 GB of RAM?), or some app has gone wild and filled up memory.

One person got rid of the problem by logging out and then back in to clear memory or you could reboot.

Yeah, I just read that post on a French forum, with someone running 10.4.8 on a PowerBook G3.

I booted with maxmem=2048 and I still get the errors.

At this point I think I'm going to try a clean install and see if that clears things up, although I'm not sure how it would...

<Sigh>...

I'm also getting the same messages in system log. Here's what I've been able to determine:

It happens when launching Rosetta applications, after using Dashboard at least once.

I was able to get rid of the problem by uninstalling Unsanity's Application Enhancer. Even though I had version 2.0.2 installed, which is supposed to fix Rosetta related problems, I still had this problem. I tried reinstalling the Application Enhancer. Problem came back. Removed it. Problem went away.

I also independently traced the problem to APE! I reported it to Unsanity, but they haven't released any new versions (and plus they wanted my system information and I didn't want to tell them that I had a hackintosh).

I'm not convinced that the problem only affects Rosetta applications, either. It seems like a pretty serious error; I looked at the kernel code behind the error, and it's a bit scary.
