Kernel Panic when not in verbose mode

11 posts in this topic

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have a very strange behaviour on my old Mojave install.

I keep on having kernel panic if I am not using -v at boot. if I have it everything is fine.

I've seen a very old post with that with apparently problems on kexts.

I've tried

  • to boot without all non essential kexts but that doesn't help.
  • to update to last clover version
  • remove any patch of config.plist

Any clue ?

  • Trying VirtualSMC iso FakeSMC
  • ?

Thanks

The last loaded kext is changing from panic to panic depending on which kexts are loaded

My hardware

  • CPU: Intel i5-3470 (4) @ 3.20GHz
  • GPU: Radeon RX 560
  • Memory: 16384MiB DDR3
  • Motherboard H77n-wifi

I use a custom DSDT and SSDT created by a great fellow member here.

Your cache may be out of date or corrupt. Try and rebuild it manually:

sudo touch -f /S*/L*/E*
sudo touch -f /L*/E*
sudo kextcache -Boot -U /

Thanks my fellow breton but no improvement

Post a zipped copy of your Clover folder.

I can't understand why you'd use and old and irrelevant Chameleon option such as arch=x86_64 (all OS X versions are 64bit kernel since Mountain Lion) andNullCPUPowerManagement kext.

Will do.

Actually I am not using arch=x86_64 in general.

it is the panic trace indeed I pasted but It was one of the many attempt where I've tried several boot options to improve that.

As for nullCPUPowermanagement, I used to need it before updating to my custom DSDT and considered it needed. I will give it a try without it tonight.

Thanks

All right.

Here's my clover folder.CLOVER.zip

btw. I've tried without NullCPUPowerMangement.kext.

It doesn't change anything. I can boot with -v but not in normal mode.

Does anybody know what are the actual differences verbose vs regular boot ? It seems something is different what so ever.

Again, get rid of NullCPUPowerManagement, it basically kills CPU SpeedStep and this will affect overall performance of your Hackintosh. You've got the generated CPU-specific power management SSDT so you really do not need this kext.

This being said, I believe your Clover config was inappropriate in several aspects, especially on the Kernel & Kexts patches where there even was a totally erroneous patch being applied to a kext called "kext name".

Here's a revised Clover config for you to try.

config.plist.zip

That's done in between. But did not change the issue. Thanks anyhow for the tweak

I am rebooting to give it a try

Thanks for the cleaning but that did not help. I still have to go verbose. :(
