Gregow
I have recently built a new Z370 system with an 8086K CPU and given it a nice little overclock. C-states, P-states, EIST and whatnot disabled in BIOS. Works as it should in Windows, but High Sierra has SpeedStep enabled for some reason and I can't figure out how to disable it. Can you help me get rid of the speed stepping? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/335551-how-to-disable-speedstep/ Share on other sites

Nothing seems to work. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/335551-how-to-disable-speedstep/#findComment-2635388 Share on other sites

To keep the CPU running at LFM/HFM only and keep it warmer than required? Or is the overclock not working under HS? The trouble is that, since Haswell generations, CPU power management is handled at kernel level not through the AICPUPM kext which you could have probably removed with an older CPU I guess. Maybe you can post your Clover config to check how CPU PM is handled. Because the overclock is tested with specific settings that I've tried to carefully monitor and deemed both safe (enough) and stable. Now High Sierra acts upon it's own, despite my BIOS settings, and I don't know why nor how it affects the system. In essence: I wan't control.
