No man! you're not alone! :)

I remember having the same issue with the High Sierra beta/DP versions as well where the installer was smaller than it supposed to and now the same thing is happening with the Mojave as well.

However, my Mojave version is 10.14 Beta (18A314h) and I guess the update is only for public beta version? I mean 10.14.0 18A314k is the new public beta? Right?

Right. Thing is...I'm already on 18A314k aaand having the same issue... if I can call it that. I mean, I already tested the web installer. And it works perfectly fine if you're launching it from the Applications and using it as it is. The only problem comes when you wanna use it as an offline installer.

Sorry for the delay on the reply, I was able to download the full installer using @crazybirdy's script and it was a success. I haven't tried to install it though because I din't have the time but still I know it works.

@crazybirdy

Great job man!

Thanks :)

@osxone There is no update. You're running the latest version already.

my version is  h  even though enrolled on Developer which is not the same as beta release.

thanks

Hi man,

I hope you're feeling better now.

If you added those specific AppleALC and Lilu kexts, and injected a layout ID, you should have sound. You can reupload your Clover folder for another look.

On the Skylake build I don't use the iGPU (which is probably causing the issue in your case). But if you're using the iGPU, you can probably try to Inject Intel in config -> Graphics (maybe add the ig-platform-id for your case) and add IntelGraphicsFixup kext in Clover/kexts/Other. Might help.

I don't use USBInjectAll simply because I don't need it. :) USB works fine. And...I think we might already have support from Apple for USB 3 (which was the main point of using USBInjectAll for me). But it's not needed anymore. Also, the USBInjectAll kext causes really, really slow input for my wireless mouse & keyboard at home. I would suggest trying without it and see if it works.

As for slow boot...I would suggest switching to an SSD, if you can. They're becoming more and more affordable. And even a smaller one, is still miles better than a mechanical drive. How old is that HDD? Maybe that affects the performance, as well. I had Mojave installed on a mechanical drive. And it was definitely slower. But not THAT much slower. I mean, it would probably take 40 seconds to a maximum 1 minute to boot. But 5 minutes is waaay too much. And I'm thinking it might be hardware related, as well.

As for the fixes, they were checked by default and I didn't bother to uncheck them. :))) But I'm pretty sure most of them, if not all, are actually not necessary. At home I'm not using any of those. But I'll take a look.

By default, you can just start with the config I gave you, exactly the way it is right now. I don't think it will improve the speed in any way, but I don't think it will cause any issues, either. For iGPU though, you will need to set Inject Intel.

Thank you man,

I am much better now.

I made clean installed on my NVME and all slowness problem gone.

Used AppleALC and Lilu kexts which you provided, with layout-id 7 and -lilubetaall boot arg and now the sound is working.

I am not using IGPU I have discrete GPU RX 560 this big boot glitch turn now much acceptable one.

Yes my UBS’s looks working without  USBInjectAll.kext just like you said. But I have Bluetooth problem now. I am using same combo card almost 5 years and I don’t get any problem so far. But now after using one hour Bluetooth turning suddenly no device. WiFi working without any problem. Maybe I need USBInjectAll.kext I will try it tomorrow.

I have also preview.app and quick look problem. I saw your post my GPU is already set PEG in bios but it doesn’t change anything.

Also, Safari doesn't hold the password. I am sign in insanelymac with my password and choosing to remember it but when I boot it asks password again. That's weird I don't get it why.

I need your help with Mojave 10.14 beta2 installation to my PC-1 in my Signature.
Booting with Clover 4577 as far as ok switches also graphical user interface then comes language

selection and then the error "Installation resources expired" bla bla bla and just I should restart.
I already googled but didn't find much to do with it.
I find the hints to reload installer from Appstore nonsense.
Note Set time in bios to GMT I have made, but the same error afterwards.
Do you have an idea? nvram.plist not exist and emuvariable not installed with clover.

how can I execute this command with the SSD for Mojave installation? i did use the method

thru the terminal sudo ntpdate -u "time.apple.com" and it worked

Thanks for tips

Hi guys,

For anyone having issues with Quick Look and Preview for larger jpegs using the dedicated GPU, here's a trick that might work for you:

1. Set bios to use PEG (dedicated GPU).

2. Reboot (I think you don't necessarily need to boot into the OS...but you do need to reboot at least until Clover UI)

3. Reboot back into BIOS and set it from PEG to IGD (integrated graphics) WITHOUT removing the cable.

4. Reboot again.

The result should be that the OS is tricked into thinking you're booting with the IGPU when in fact you're using the dedicated GPU. :)))

You will also need to patch the iGPU from Clover config.

1. Graphics -> Inject Intel (UNCHECK Inject Nvidia or ATI if it's checked).

2. ig-platform-id (in my case for Intel HD 4600 Desktop) it was: 0x0d220003

And use IntelGraphicsFixup.kext in Clover/kexts/Other. In my particular case, without the kext, I would get freezes in Safari.

Worked with both HDMI and DVI, in my case.

I followed your directions: it works and I thank you.

But why does it work in your opinion?

18A314k is the first public beta, which in fact is the same as the second (currently the latest) developer beta (which is the version you are running)

Remove the serials in SMBIOS and RT Variables and upload your Clover folder for analysis. Also, an ioreg might help. :)

Also, which update are you trying to get? If you're using the Developer Beta program, 18A314h is already the latest available build.

Just to further clarify this:

1. 18A314h is the latest Developer Beta build -> requires the Developer Beta Access Utility

2. 18A314k is the latest Public Beta build -> requires the Public Beta Access Utility.

Also, one thing to note is that both 18A314h and 18A314k have pretty much the same issues. If the idea is to be on the latest build, regardless whether or not it's actually better, then sure, go ahead and get the Public Beta Access Utility and then you will be able to get the Public Beta build. Of course, when you do that, you will no longer get Developer Builds. But if the idea is to get a better build, since they're not different in terms of performance, I'd say you should probably stick to the current one you have.

Ok. Just keep in mind that this could also be a bug. :)

The point is to set it as IGD, not PEG. :) Meaning, with the cable connected to the dedicated card, set it as INTEGRATED in BIOS.

Also, if you're on Skylake, you need to set Inject Intel and the correct ig-platform-id for your case (probably HD 530 or something). My example is for my iGPU which is an Intel HD 4600. And yes, it DOES matter, even if you're technically not using the actual iGPU directly. That's the whole point. You need to set the iGPU as if you're using it. Keep the cable connected to the DEDICATED GPU and set it to INTEGRATED in BIOS. :D

@Cyberdevs has a little more experience with AMD and RX cards than I do. So, he might be able to help you more with this. He was also the one who discovered this little thing in the first place. I just adjusted it for my setup. :) So, thanks to him.

But the idea is simple: trick the OS into thinking you're connected to the iGPU, when in fact, you're not. That's all.

Yeah, I have that issue, as well. And it's annoying. Most likely a bug, since it also occurs on my MBP and I don't remember having it in Developer Beta 1.

Hi man I hope you are feeling much better now I've read your post about being in the hospital and I hope it wasn't serious :)

To solve the QuickLook issue as @arsradu already mentioned you need to have the iGPU enabled in BIOS/UEFI. just let the RX560 be the primary and the iGPU set as enabled and that's it. This way you will have the Hardware Encoding Support which will be handled by the Intel HD Graphics and macOS will use your RX 560 for other tasks such as games and graphic softwares.

I remember that I gave you a SSDT for your GPU do you still use that? Because yo udon't need it anymore ever since macOS 10.13.4 our GPUs are working OOB with just a little tweak.

check this post and you will have quicklooks enabled easily. It's also might be necessary to remove any GPU related DSDT/SSDT form ACPI/patched folder until we sort out the new settings in the DSDT tables for Mojave

I also edited my previous post with additional information to avoid further confusion. ( thanks to @arsradu for pointing it out :) )

Thanks man! :)

One thing I noticed in my (very limited) experience with this, is that you don't really need (at least I didn't...) to remove those two plists... I mean, in my case, it was just: Set PEG, Reboot, Set IGD (without removing the cable), reboot again. + the config and the kext I was mentioning before. But other than that...nothing else.

Did you notice any difference if you didn't remove those? Or you did it regardless? Just to be sure they're gone. :)) At least until the next reboot.

Nope I just removed the as a part of my troubleshooting quest but removing them might not even be necessary. The iGPU being enabled in BIOS must be enough.

I might remove those steps as well or make a note that removing them isn't necessary but I always remove the files that I suspect might be damaged in the troubleshooting steps.

Is there any difference between 10.14.0 18A314h and 10.14.0 18A314k.

Thank you.

Aside from the last letter at the end, and the fact that one is a Public Beta whereas the other one is a Developer Beta, no, none whatsoever.
