Hello,

I have the following system

Computer: Dell Vostro 220s
CPU: E2220
Memory: 4GB
HDD: WD 500GB
GPU: Zotac 8400 GS 512GB
Sound: ALC662v2
NIC: RTL8101E/RTL8102E

Bootmanager: Clover
OS: El Capitan (10.11.6)
Works: GPU, NIC, sleep/wake
Problem: Sound

El Capitan was installed on the computer, NIC and Video card work good, the computer goes into sleep and wakes up.

Please see an attached file 'Vostro 220s initial.zip' for status of system after installation and prepared to be patched.

But I have difficulty to get Sound card (ALC662v2) configured properly.

A procedure which I did follow to resolve sound issue

------------------------------------------------------------------------

A patch (Clover, DSDT, config.plist) was generated with "AppleHDA patcher v1.8" and "MACL" was used to compile DSDT file which was placed into

/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched

A "aDummy.kext" was copied into

/Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11

required changes for 'config.plist' was applied and the computer was rebooted.

On reboot I found that system can not seed "ALC662v2" codec and there is no sound output device available (see 'Vostro 220s patched.zip' for system status after reboot).

NOTE: When I started "AppleHDA patcher v1.8" and run "jarvis" it reported "no audio codec found", at the same time "DPCIManager" shows information on audio codec.

I am somewhat puzzled why "jarvis" does not see audio codec and my guess is that due this reason generated "Clover bootmanager" patch for "AppleHDA.kext" - "aDummy.kext"/"config.plist" is not correct.

I would like to hear any suggestion how the problem can be remedied.

Thanks for your help,

let's try this way...

remove the patch to the dsdt
remove the patch from the config.plist
remove adummy from s \ l \ e
restore original applehda

copy the kext attachments to efi \ clover \ kext \ 10.11
try the layouts 5 7 11 12 13 in the config.plist section devices \ audio one at a time followed by a restart of the pc

Hello MARZILLO,

I followed your instruction:

removed EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/DSDT.aml file

removed ALC662 patch from EFI/CLOVER/config.plist file

removed EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11/aDummy.kext
copied Lilu.* to EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11
copied AppleALC.* to EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11

rebooted the computer

on reboot the screen turned black and I never got login prompt -- I had to boot from USB drive and to remove Lilu.* and AppleALC.* from EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11 to be able to boot normally.

Any other suggestion(s)?

Marzillo,

well, for now as I could not find other solution I put VoodooHDA.kext and sound card works.

But now the computer does not wakeup from sleep -- it is a reason why I try to avoid VoodooHDA.kext (it used as last resort when I can not find a better solution).

I am not sure why I am getting two audio devices in IO configuration, I guess this is what throws off "AppleHDA patcher v1.8" and result patch has not effect.

I will continue to look for a better solution as the time will permit.
