I'm installing it on the 1st partition of my harddrive... the second partition is an empty fat32 partition.
semthex
Are you sure the partition has correct type set and was correctly formated during setup and is set active?
wingk1314
ok..I'm sure I have set up all the partitions properly (formatted using the OSX disk utility - HFS+ journaled) and have set the partition active. That's why this is so frustrating. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the installation though. Everything installed just fine. my hardware set up (if it helps) Intel conroe E6300 1.83Ghz Asus P5LD2 - SE 1Gb DDRII 4300 samsung ram 80Gb Maxtor SataII (~35GB/partition 1, ~45GB/partition 2) 200GB Maxtor Sata (disconnected) 160GB Seagate ATA (disconnected) EDIT: with regards to the active partitioning.. i thought the OSX installation automatically activates the partition it's install on.. correct me if i'm wrong though. No, OSX installation does not mess partition activation by default. I was installing the "X" with Win partition set to active, and after OSX installation it have not changed. consolation
Try formating with a windows utility or install disk first. You want the MBR to be created and I found that with disk utility in os X YMMV. Then, just erase the partition in mac os Disk Utility to hfs+; just the partition erase - do not reformat the drive. Make sure you are not using the dodgy 10.4.8 iso or you won't stand a chance.
