Holy {censored}. This is one detailed write up. Great job.

Thanks  :) and there is more to come, I'm hoping that the guide will be easy to follow for first time hackintoshers.

I would love to see the old guide from the ton_ma_ forums.  I can't believe they removed it!  I need all that data in there; the mod's recent post isn't the same information... :(

it's a bible! Nice Work!

Thanks MaLd0n.  I see you have been very busy on the forums posting great content and helping, excellent!

Stunning Work!

Cheers, I hope its helps.

Hi bluesceens, sorry but I removed the guide from their site. I won't detail reasons why, but apologise for any inconvenience caused. I left a guide in pdf form for followers to download, I thinks it's since been removed.

Amazing write-up, indeed

What happened to your post/thread on TM86? Was looking for it for guidance..

- or is this guide complete/the same?

Thanks, this guide will be very similar but more in depth.

Cool, Glasgood,

Can I somehow get that PDF - or will this new guide on InsanelyMac also come as a PDF?

Hi, it's not a perfectly formatted PDF as I saved the webpage using Safari as a pdf.  When this guide is finished use Safari to export the web page as a pdf.

I'd like to get the old PDF too - great info in there I need..

I appreciate you asking for the old PDF, but I'm not going to encourage or promote the use of specific TM tools from the old guide.  This guide when complete will have near same / similar content and hopefully provide better insight. The guide at this moment has everything you need for a successful build providing you are using the parts in the list.

Understood; thanks for answering.

Quick question: given the Asus Z370-G Gaming MATX MB has wifi and bluetooth built in (Realtek, if I'm not mistaken) -- is there any way to get that wifi working, or is the reason you and the chef added a card due to the fact that Realtek isn't supported / working in MacOS?

I added a Crystal Studios somesuch cheapie (Amazon $10) USB bluetooth 'card', but I can't consistently get my BT stuff to work.  For example, I have the Logitech K780/M720 pair, which is made to move seamlessly between two computers' bluetooth connections (ie control two machines by flipping to another BT channel) - it works great on a real iMac 2015 and every PC I've tried (including a W10 PC with that same US Crystal Studios USB bit) but when I put it on the Asus, BT is recognized, but the mouse and keyboard do not pair reliably enough for use.

I'd like to get the Realtek (built-in) stuff working, without USB extras required; is that possible?

After a bit of research and googling:

1.  The RTL8723BE has no Mac drivers, and the situation isn't likely to change anytime soon.

2.  An option is a Mini-PCIe card - BCM94352HBM.  One would need to buy a PCIe adapter, though, to put into a PC.  The total cost of this is $30 + $20 or so - about $50.

3.  Seems simplest, given we have a MATX case at our disposal with M2 MB to simply get the M2 version, BCM94352Z, AKA Dell DW1560, and put it in one of the two M2 slots on the motherboard.  The total cost of this is about $30; no card adapter is required, and the antenna from Asus would simply be attached to the M2 card directly.

Any reason not to pursue this?  If I eventually plan to upgrade to a Samsung 960 1TB drive, I still would have a single M2 slot free; does anyone see any issues with this?  Wireless cabling running through my case, more so than if I plugged something into PCIe, perhaps...

I am using the ABWB 802.11AC WI-FI with Bluetooth 4.0 PCI-Express (PCI-E) BCM943602CS Combo Card in my build, I choose that card so that iMassages, iCloud and Air drop would work.

Did not know at the time, but I could have used a wifi card from a MacBook Air and placed it in a M.2 adapter, then I could have used the two antennas from the M.2 wifi card that I removed from my Asus board.

The MacBook Air wifi card has two connectors for antenna, if you are looking for a smooth hassle free iCloud, iMessages etc, then I would suggest to get an Apple Wifi card and adapter from ebay.

@glasgood

My ASUS X Hero has onboard wifi and bluetooth.

Ingot this version of the MB because I figured/was hoping an onboard solution would work better.

Any idea if I can make it work, or if I have to get another, external card(s)?

Thanks! :)

Here's how to tell what you have:

1.  Go to the Asus page for your hardware.

2.  Find the Support section, Drivers section, and select Windows 10 64 bit.

3.  Find the driver for Wifi.  Google the driver version.

4.  The first hit is a Realtek RTL8723BE in Google.  That's what you have.  Nobody can make the Realtek Wifi work in OS X.

So - buy what's been tried in this thread, or the OS X Wifi threads.  The Dell 1830, 1550, 1560 models seem to work.  I'm just debating the best form factor and wifi antenna adapter now.

Hi Bluescreens,

Thanks - however, I dont quite understand what you mean:

Firstly, as far as I can tell, there are several versions of Realtek drivers for my MB - and secondly AFAIK there are plenty of working Realtek drivers/kexts out there (unless Im much mistaken Im using one in my current Hackintosh), so just to clarify:

Are you talking about the SPECIFIC drivers not working under OS X (8723BE, 8822BE and others I found), or are you telling me that Realtek wifi in general doesnt work on OS X?

Thanks! :)

Look at the latest wifi driver on the Asus website.  Google that number.  That tells you what hardware you have.  Google that, and you can see nobody can make it work with MacOS.

So we're stuck coming up with another solution.  I'm trying to find something that works reliably, has 3 antenna (1300 mbps max) on the PCIe adapter card side, and has the Bluetooth USB wiring on-board, if that's in fact required.  So many questions.... it's very unclear right now.  :(

OK, so I finally made a decision.  I bought this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Wireless-1830-ABGNAC-WLAN-BT-NGFF-Card-BCM943602BAED-GKCG2-For-XPS-15-9550/282120771022?hash=item41afb555ce:g:XT4AAOSwCfdXpeEg

and this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Set-BCM94360CD-BCM94331CD-to-PCI-E-1X-Adapter-4-x-Wireless-Antenna-USB-Cable/172990944818?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

I'm hoping it will all work - with Handoff, iPhone calling, etc.  The adapter card is PCIe 1x, and it has the cabling required for the Bluetooth linkage to the motherboard's internal USB header.  Hope it works!  I should know in about a month.  :)

OK, I´m very confused - if you are right.

Like I said: There are plenty of builds on the unmentionable hackintosh forum using Realtek wifi, from what I can tell - so I´m not sure why it´s not doable.

Perhaps High Sierra demands a different solution?

FYI: I´m running Intel I218V2 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet with IntelMausiEthernet.kext

Ciao ragazzi!
Io voglio OSX,Win10 (Che già ho) e Kali(Solo 15gb) sullo stesso hard disk
Senza perdere dati di Win o Mac
Gengik ho visto in precedenti discussioni tue, di andare in GUI da clover config . e togliere Windows da quelli nascosti e l'ho fatto, ma il risultato non cambia.
      Grazie per la lettura

      Hi All

I'm trying to start a Hackintosh High Sierra 10.13.5 installation:
      - MSI B350 PC Mate
      - Ryzen 5 - 2600
      - Radeon Pro 580 GPU
      - 4 x 8GB DDR4
(Have a working clover bootloader for HS 10.13.3 - but for some reason, I can't use that setup with the 10.13.5)

Have tried different bootloader setup, with different outcomes...
      ATM. I get this error/hang - "Unknown CPU: family = 0x17, model = 0x8, Stepping = 0x2"
Have search google, and can see that the threads ppl. are getting this, is when they look at "About this mac", I haven't yet installed the OSX.

      So can someone help...

I'm running the newest Kexts: AppleALC, FakeSMC, Lilu, RealtekRTL8111, USBInjectAll and WhateverGreen.
      In Bootloader setup, i'm running: -v, -s, -f, -no_compat_check, busratio=34, PCIRootUID=1, npci=0x2000, dart=0 and nv_disable=1
In SMBIOS i'm using the iMac18,2 and in RT i'm using BooterConfig: 0x28 and CsrActiveConfig: 0x67
In installed drivers i'm using: AptioMemoryFix, EmuVariableUefi-64, OsxAptioFixDrv-64 (Have tried Fix2 as well)

But i'm, keep getting the Unknown CPU hang/error, can someone help...
Or do someone have a setup with the same CPU and GPU, that can show me his/her setup for Bootloader/Kexts...

I get a lot of questions about HOW TO BACKUP A HACKINTOSH. So I decided to create Complete Guide with 5 methods described in detail, how to easily make bootable clones of Hackintosh system disks, or backup your data. Full step by step tutorial is here:
