nota33133
OK I know enough to be dangerous wife has an imac 27 2013 we tryed to go to apple and d/l the new OS damm thing updated her box no option she saw to save or put the OS on the usb jump drive I bought so now wife is mad and has to relearn the NEW OS THE LINK SAID Also be aware that the Format and Scheme types listed in the Erase option of Disk Utility will have changes as time goes on. Sometime in 2017, there will be an addition of a new file system for the Mac, to find out more see: and mean while the 12.1 imac is refusing to start it is stone dead TOOK IT IN TO APPLE AND THEY WANT 150 TO REPLACE THE PS so I pulled it apart to test the power supply look for cold sodder joints bad caps ect I get normal near 12v 11.88v [ is that too low ?] on my cheap china VOM ON PINS 11 12 i think those pins supply the main board so ? AND 3 VOLTS ON ONE PIN 6? NO 5 VOLTS ON THE HD SUPPLY PIN 0.00 ? where do I check the pins on the MB next problem what does the power button really do ??? I get 120v ac in to the power supply and one led lit no change if pushed but near 12v out on several pins 3v to one one but no 5v any body know what cap is on the 5v line if rumors of bad caps are true ? LouCioccio
Not sure if this will help see link they at DVWarehouse have answered my questions when I have repaired Mac's. If this is the right model the price is better than the 150$ (did that include labor)? Lou Cioccio
nota33133
thanks for the link but like most mac stuff. too high priced near 80+ 20 to ship = 100 refurb 150 new shiped e-bay has used units 29 to 50 free ship still don't know if MB is good or not so trying to cheap fix the power supply esp the 5v section if a bad cap it is under a buck to fix if somebody knows which cap that would help or location likely of weak cold/open solder joints btw here is the apple repair manual for the imac 12.1 21,5 2011 mid http://docshare01.docshare.tips/files/23542/235427388.pdf still would like to know more about the power supply or a diagram of it and how exactly the power button ''works'' from the button to m/b to the power supply as my unit has power in all the time but doesnot switch to on by the led's on the m/b anyway other pins seem to be 12v as they should but 3v on #6 and no 0v on #3 that should be the 5v line I can't find 5 v on any pin

nota33133
one lite first power light only no others btw the led lites are hidden under a strip cable mid m/b on the 21.5 mid 11 checked for power on the coin battery 2.89v said to be good over 2.7 so OK only got 3.05v dc at #6 pin should be 3.3 that apple calls signal and does not list a voltage for and 11.87v on all 12v pins no 5 volts at all should be #3 pin ? this is the 27'' m/b power pinout https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/moS64VEIPaD6Q add DkR to above link to avoid rules still hunting a power pinout at the p/s and a pinout of the m/b power connectors 21.5 mid11 has two unlike the 27'' that I have a m/b power pin out for a mid 11 as the 27'' uses 1 connector not 2 like the 21.5 does is the back of the case POWER SWITCH BUTTON on my imac 21.5 mid 11 the same thing as a pc front panel button ? ie can I use a existing push button off a pc to test the imacs back button ''switch'' ? found lots of g5 cap kits like this one I cant post here yes I KNOW TO WELL NOT FOR MY IMAC but I would love to find one for my unit or even a dammm pinout for my unit why the no pic links here guys ?
