if you reformat in apple's disk utility and check the option to erased and format to ms-dos and thats your fat32 format right there.

hope that helps

*if your gonna do a whole hd reformat (which is best) pop in your mac install dvd, let it boot, goto utilities > disk utility

-click your hd your gonna reformat and install to (the hd not its partitions) > Click the partition tab > Change volume scheme > to the right you get to change the formats and sizes.

-once finished choosing sizes and formats go ahead and click Partition and there ya are. i would suggest installing osx first then windows > give osx first partition > then install windows

-once in windows open disk management (start button> run> diskmgmt.msc) > select your mac partition (healthy but unknown partition) right click and set as active.

now you have the darwin bootloader to select your os mac is first then windows.

When you boot the XP install disc, at the point of selecting what partition to install onto, just delete the old(bad) install. That will leave you with an unpartitioned area. Select this unpartitioned area as the partition to install to. Then you are given the chance to choose how to format the partition (NTFS, NTFS(quick), Fat32, etc..) Then the installation will continue.....

Or if you install OSX first like Diabolik said create a FAT32 partition and select that partition for the XP install it will then ask you how you want to format it. You can then choose not to format and to use existing file system.

I've got my own boot issue's I'm working on so I can't be of much help there. Logically speaking I would think that if you install OSX first and then XP(FAT32) booting into XP and start ->run ->diskmgmt.msc setting the OSX partition as active it would use OSX.

If you install that on XP then you will need to leave the XP partiton as the [Active] partition. If you install XP last then its going to overwrite the Master Boot Record so you will need to install acronis in order to boot select or it will boot into windows without being able to select.

I've seen alot of posts here pertaining to dual booting
