jasgoalie
Hello All, I am trying to do a fresh install on a new partition using JaS 10.4.8 release. However, the installation always hangs on the blue screen. Gets past the grey apple logo relatively quickly, but always hangs on the blue screen. Have tried both kernels. I have previously installed 10.4.6, which worked fine. This is on my Sony Vaio SZ370P laptop - 2GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB, 120GB, Intel GMA 950. Any idea what might be causing this? Thanks in advance. Guest bikedude880
Try loading it with -v and see what shows up. I assume you know how to get to the darwin prompt. jasgoalie
Hi bikedude - I've tried that, and although I'm not expert, there doesnt appearl to be anything unusual, other than no airport found (intel ABG card). Is there anything in particular I should be looking for? Guest bikedude880
Try tinkering in the BIOS... disable anything that isn't required for install (ethernet, audio, etc.) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32913-installation-hang-jas-1048/#findComment-231910 Share on other sites
J03
When I installed 10.4.5 on this laptop (Toshiba Satellite M40X) I had to plug in an external monitor and set the bios to auto select. It would then select the external monitor and not the laptop monitor and would boot fine and install. Once finished the install set the bios to LCD+ANALOG RGB (that's what mine says anyway..) I'm trying to install 10.4.8 and everytime it gets ready to load the gui mode install (after the apple logo and the spinning thing) my laptop just shuts down. Disabled everything. Used an external screen.. Nothing.. Gonna search the forums to see if theres a solution.. jasgoalie
Ok, everything worked after I switched to Nvidia graphics. Not sure why it didn't work otherwise. Thanks everyone for their help. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32913-installation-hang-jas-1048/#findComment-232090 Share on other sites
