buhgock
Run installer. Go to Terminal: cd / <=== "cd" followed by a space followed by a slash (/) ls sig* Verify that it finds a file called "sigmatelpatch.sh" sudo sh sigmatelpatch.sh xx yy <=== use your values for xx yy for sigmatel 7681 => xx=76, yy=81 rammjet you are the most helpful person on these forums btw but when im changing directory where do i want to be changing it to? because im still getting the not found thing after running the installer thanks again Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32859-applehda-solution-work-in-progress/page/22/#findComment-262465 Share on other sites
Rammjet
cd / - changes to root directory, the top directory of the hard drive. That is where the "AppleHDA_v0.2a.mpkg" installer places the "sigmatelpatch.sh" ls sig* - this should have returned "sigmatelpatch.sh" as I said to verify. If it did not, then there is no "sigmatelpatch.sh" to be run. Either because the "AppleHDA_v0.2a.mpkg" installer failed to install it, you failed to run "AppleHDA_v0.2a.mpkg" or you downloaded a different package entirely. If all went well, we have moved to the root directory (/) where "sigmatelpatch.sh" is located and by running "sudo sh sigmatelpatch.sh xx yy" we tell "sh" to run "signatelpatch.sh" which should be in this directory if it was verified by performing the "ls sig*". mdg
I have an Intel 975XBX2 with a Sigmatel 9227 (I believe). Vendor ID 8384 Device ID 7621 / Sub 8086 0419 I've tried applying these patches, including infusing the AppleHDA v0.2a with 76 21 to patch, but still no go. Anyone have any suggestions for how to get "any" kind of sound...wrong port, 2-channel, anything, out of this card? I am desperate for sound out Thanks! /mdg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32859-applehda-solution-work-in-progress/page/22/#findComment-262584 Share on other sites

sunchild
My "dirty sound" problem was fixed by AppleAzalia installer. Sadly, I lost the line-in, but I've gained a sound clean enough for my not-dirt-cheap headphones. If it's somehow possible to defeat the "audio feedback" bug, I'll be happy to revert to AppleHDA. TheMaxx32000
AppleHDA.kext works for most (I think all, but I am not sure) Intel HighDefinition AudioCodecs. Sigmatel is not a problem, but PinConfigs are. The problems are: -Nearly each Mainboard / Laptop has other PinConfigs -ONE SINGLE MISTAKE in PinConfig causes AppleHDA.kext not to load correctly, therefore, if you have for example LineOut and Mic detected, and add SPDIF and use wrong Settings for it, you will get nothing detected on next reboot. -I tried to get AppleHDA working on 3 laptops now, and I can tell that it is hard, but even harder if you don't have the laptop / mainboard yourself. Remote debugging is always harder and our (mine and especially Tarugas) spare-time is limited. Yes you can hope for it ! I´ve been working in the last weeks in the Ultimate Patch Solution for both Realtek and Sigmatel, some sigmatel are already 'sounding' But I will take a couple of weeks more to finish, test and review this program. Some preview of whats coming... rewtninja
Is there someway we can help? Say extracting/calculating PinConfig´s f.i.? looper
hmm.. I have a feeling the ALC882 AppleHDA v0.4b.mpkg installer is not working at all for me. If I am understanding Rammjets info correctly, after running the installer I should be able to verify the existence of the sigmatelpatch.sh file using these instructions: Run installer. Go to Terminal: CODE cd / <=== "cd" followed by a space followed by a slash (/) ls sig* Verify that it finds a file called "sigmatelpatch.sh" CODE sudo sh sigmatelpatch.sh xx yy <=== use your values for xx yy for sigmatel 7681 => xx=76, yy=81 however all I get is this... Welcome to Darwin!homesnakes-computer:~ homesnake$ cd / homesnakes-computer:/ homesnake$ ls sig* ls: sig*: No such file or directory homesnakes-computer:/ homesnake$ as well, shouldn't I be able to see the sigmatel.sh file if I make invisible files visible (via tinkertool or other)? here's my root drive after running the installer... maybe I should try running the installer as root? If that doesn't work could I install all the components manually (ie extract the files out of the installer and drop them in?) I've used pacifist before but maybe the installer does a bunch of other stuff that I won't be able to do easily. Also is there a way to see a log of what happened during the install? thanks again Rammjet for your clear explanations. PS I've installed the latest Semthex kernel, fixed permissions, restarted, removed Azalia, etc. I know Taruga/Maxx are working on a new one for Sigmatel - but I'm still curious as to what's going on with this installer Edited December 28, 2006 by looper Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32859-applehda-solution-work-in-progress/page/22/#findComment-263691 Share on other sites
Rammjet
hmm.. I have a feeling the ALC882 AppleHDA v0.4b.mpkg installer is not working at all for me. If I am understanding Rammjets info correctly, after running the installer I should be able to verify the existence of the sigmatelpatch.sh file ::sigh:: The ALC882 package is entirely different from the AppleHDA_v0.2a.mpkg package. The ALC882 has no Sigmatel patcher because it isn't for Sigmatel. In fact, it is hardwired for Realtek. There is no patcher to run after installation. Just double-click the ALC882 installer and reboot. It will have installed two files you need. No other configuration is necessary. It works great with my ALC882 system. Juurlo
Installed AppleHDA ALC888 drivers yesterday, but couldn't get sound working (tried all jacks), although the volume controls are no longer grayed out in the control panel and menubar. Nothing shows in the audio properties of the system profiler. Setup: 10.4.8 Jas, kernel 8.8.1 running on AsRock Conroe945GDvi (Core2Duo 6300). Anyone else here has AppleHDA drivers working with this board? vEmpire
I've gone through this entire thread more than once (yes, all 28 pages!) and the conclusion I am coming to is that there is not currently any support for a realtek alc 861, and the only option there is appleazilla?
