The Basilisk
I installed OSX on a PATA because the installer couldn't recognize my SATA HDD. Once I got OSX installed on my PATA hard drive, I deleted AppleAHCIPort.kext and AppleVIAATA.kext from the extensions directory and replaced IOATAFamily.kext with a modified one. This made my SATA HDD get recognized. The only problem now is how would I install osx onto my SATA controller? I've tried the restore feature in disk utility and Carbon Copy Cloner to copy my pata disk onto the sata drive but acronis os selector doesn't recognize the osx partition, it only sees the windows xp partition. I even deactivated my windows xp partition and set the osx partition active but get a MBR error when restarting. What should I do?

The Basilisk
did you check if your Acronis configuration is correct? make sure it point to the right disk that has mac os x. yes I checked. I also used the OS detection wizard but it still couldn't detect OSX.
jester1o1
There is a tutorial in the Genius Bar which goes through the steps for moving from one hard disk to another - worked great for me. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=30322 1 thing - make sure you only use Carbon Copy Cloner (ver 2.3 or newer) - SuperDuper will screw up your MBR.
