rhinosx
Running 10.4.8 JaS reseed with Semthex. During installation selected the GMA950 patch. Display works fine but when trying to play a DVD with DVD player I am not able to see any video (sound plays ok). All I get is a blank/black screen. I can see the video controls and other overlayed text from DVD player (status messages, etc.) I have GMA950 video. Under System Profiler CI/QE is Supported. Was hoping someone could give me a quick solution or point me in the right direction to troubleshoot/resolve this issue. Searching the forum I couldn't find anything related. 10.4.7 JaS worked fine using GMA900 patch. I'm wondering if I should try installing that patch again using 10.4.4/7 Thanks much, rhino UPDATE: Looks like video/DVD works using VLC - still no clue why DVD player doesn't play video. rhinosx
Any one else experience this issue, or am I the only one? Can someone at least confirm this is happening to their system using a GMA950 on 10.4.8. Could it have something to do with the fact that after the 10.4.8 install I'm only getting 64MB listed as allocated under System Profiler for GMA950? Digital Dark Age
I have no such problem with my GMA950 on the latest 10.4.8 install. There is a GMA950 fix on the latest Jas update; perhaps you need that. p.s. 64 MB of shared system memory. Is what it shows in my system profiler. At least now I know that this might just be specific to me. I'll try reinstalling again and/or some other ideas I have... FYI, I did install the GMA950 patch on the JaS DVD during install. rhino

rhinosx
Thanks for checking. I just reloaded OSX again performing the exact same install--now it works fine. Go figure. Again, I appreciate the help. For anyone else who has similar problems just a quick tip: try installing again. I can't promise it will fix things but it worked in my case. rhino
private
Hi, I've the same problem with 10.4.3. Vlc worcks fine, but dvdplayer still with sound and not video. Tryed to reinstall several times. Nothing.
private
Ok, I solved the problem. I re-installed the genuine Poewrmanagement.bundle of my 10.4.3. The previous powermanagement.bundle was the modified one needed to show battery icon. Now I loss the battery icon, but I have the video on dvdplayer. Akta
I had the Same Problem as you. Like "Private" i removed the powermanagement bundle & it worked fine. Will try to find out why this module is messing up DVD playback. Regards, Akta
kocoman
It happens also on Acer Aspire 3240. But if I remove the battery icon/power management bundle.. I won't know how long my notebook battery has left..
