I am running MacOS Mojave (build 18A391) with a coffeelake intel i7 8700 (non K) and the Sapphire RX Vega 64 (See image below). 

 

I have no intentions of overclocking it or anything, just a nice stable cool set up that I can use the occasional FCP / Photoshop etc. 

 

Also I am very new to all this kext modifying etc so are you able to explain how I put those settings into the Kext? All that I copied was that table with B6020801 005C00E1 060000EE 2B00001B... etc? How does that translate into the settings you've suggested?

So, @max.1974, I tested out the 2000rpm kext that you provided last night and at first it ran perfectly! The fans adjusted perfectly under load and the card worked very well! I scored a decent score in LuxMark and was very happy. Here is a screenshot:

Unfortunately, my system still suffers the GPU randomly going to 100% utilization randomly and it just stays there until the temps start creeping up. The system now although still functions and doesn't freeze up but I just don't understand why the processor clock just randomly jumps to 100%. I won't have any programs open and it'll randomly jump up to 100%. Sometimes it can be right at boot, or sometimes it doesn't take until 10-15 min until it jumps to 100% and the GPUTach lights will all light up. It is random.

 

I deleted lilu and whatevergreen kexts from Clover/kexts/other folder and no change. So I infer, it must be the ATI10000Controller kext.

 

I am using iStat Menu's to monitor my Vega's temps and clocks. Processor clock max 1600ish MHz and the temps start to creep up from 50C up to 70C.

Please Check this GPUTach LED. Compared with Windows, I can see it flicker abnormality in Mac OSX. Anyone has idea??

 

But, when I open a video with Quicktime, GPUTach LED works great. It is just confusing.

 

Mine will also do this @Yangbe. Anytime i scroll down on a webpage, the lights will flicker. I guess anytime the GPU processes any data, is when those lights go a little crazy under macOS. Under Windows, the light's are fine. Seems like a driver issue. Windows drivers are much more polished than those on macOS.

Try use this please:

kexts MOJAVE GM 14.10.zip

 

Use Lilu + Whatevergreen + Fakesmc and another Amd10000controller.kext (good performance and low fan).

New Config for everyone to try out: GPU 1500MHz @ 1.025V | HBM2 1074MHz @ 0.925V

If you have a card that shuts fans off under Windows when it's not under load it will do this under macOS as well. Trick is to set idle and min. fan speed to 100.

DUE TO LOW VOLTAGE IT MIGHT NOT RUN STABLE FOR EVERYONE! Use this setting if not stable: Click!

Are you can try the best kexts to slow fan and good performance...

If you are new im suggest you to add on clover settings.

 

Post your info.plist without serial on SMBIOS, im will insert settings on clover.

 

Im try very hard learning how can adjust the configurations, so im recomend you use standart settings.

Sorry I probably wasn't clear in my first post, I had previously added a softpowertable in the info.plist as pictured below. This worked and the fans are at idle 700RPM with normal activity; temps around 40c & Luxmark score 30800 so that is fine but all I wanted to know was whether that softpowertable configuration I added is safe for the card I'm running? I just don't know what all the number mean after the entry. 

 

Also just to confirm you wanted the info.plist from the AMDController10000.Kext not the clover config.plist from the EFI file right?

Does anyone know if this works with a RX580 too?

It uses the AMD9500controller.kext instead of AMD10000controller.kext so we should be able to inject similar values?

I want to undervolt and adjust the fan curve...

 

I'm using a Sapphire RX580 4GB Pulse and it works great in Windows 10 using latest AMD drivers but in macOS 10.14 the card runs +5c hotter and fans start to spin up 20% when the card hits 50c. I have tried editing the BIOS using Polaris Editor (undervolt, adjust mhz, fans etc) which works fine in Windows (confirmed in GPU-Z and AMD Wattman) but in macOS the AMD9500controller.kext seems to take over BIOS settings and adjust to its own defaults!!

Hi My friend!! Im use just 2 settings, because im never change with another or try another...not is good to my Vega...

You can choice and just add in softpowertable. Im recommend for you, add in Clover, like CMMChris use, and add with my method here:

 

 

And settings to choice was here:

 

 

Sorry im not advanced user, im just use okrasit settings, and try best performance. To me now is very good. 

Any models can use powersofttable because the Bios is almost the same. So settings are the same, doesn't matter the models...sorry to me if my English is not so acure...

Another great Vega 64 PowerPlay Table for anyone to try out. Should be stable on most cards. Really low temperatures, no coil whine, great performance. Noticeably smoother UI performance due to higher base clocks. Voltage has been lowered significantly. Temps under load should not exceed 70°C and card stays silent. Fans will keep off during normal use. If they turn on they don't get very loud and turn off again after the card cooled down.

 

PowerPlay Settings

GPU Clocks: 1150 / 1200 / 1250 / 1300 / 1350 / 1400 / 1450 / 1500
GPU Voltage: 950 / 975 / 1000 / 1025 / 1050 / 1075 / 1100 / 1125


HBM2 Clock: 1045
HBM2 Voltage / Voltage Floor: 950

 

Min. Fan Speed: 100 (= Stop)
Idle Fan Speed: 100 (= Stop)
Target Fan Speed: 2600
Max. Fan Speed: 3000

Geekbench OpenCL: 192,000 Points (average)

Luxmark: 29,500 (average)
Valley benchmark ran stable for 60 minutes with average GPU temperature being 69°C, fan speed was a low 1,800.

What an adventure it is digesting all the different approaches and settings. I have used the config.plist method and it seems to work. My question is do the Property Values change based on the card you have? So far I don't recall anyone mentioning the:

 

Asus Strix Vega 64 OC.

Base clock: 1590

Memory clock: 945

 

Do I need different Property Values? BTW, I have no idea how to generate them. Thanks.

I'd like to give this a shot but am a complete N00b.  Any instructions?  Thanks!

I'm running Mojave with ASRock Vega 64.

Can I just copy/paste VegTab_64.kext to my EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other folder?

 

So I went ahead and put the kext in my efi/clover/kexts/other folder and the fan runs great on boot.  I then tried running Cinebench to do a little stress testing.  The temp goes up but the fan doesn't change speed.

 

I read elsewhere there's a way to take the table from my Windows installation and insert into macOS.  Is that correct?  Would that give me a perfectly running card?

My fan also doesn't spin up on Cinebench. Run Valley Benchmark for a while and it will start spinning. Mine turns on once the card reaches 72°C.

Here are my results on Win10.  I guess the goal with VegaTab_64.kext is keep it cool and safe, not shoot for the limits.  I'm ok with that anyway since I dual boot Win10 for gaming.

I gave this a try and it was working great until my monitor went to sleep and the machine froze. Tested it for a few more hours today and had the exact same thing happen again. I had a similar result when I used VegaTab to create my own kext previously. Freezes with black or grey screen after a few hours. Not related to workload. Maybe once a day, totally random. No idea why. But monitor sleep worked fine.

 

I went back to the original kext I was using, which is the RadeonVegaLowFansSpeed.kext originally from this thread. No freezes with that.

If the card freezes you might need to increase voltages a bit or change the memory clock. Try lowering the memory clock to 1000MHz first and then check if freezes disappear.

Just figured out that the Vega driver provides much more data through terminal than just fan speed and temps. Here is a neat little command that displays fan speed in RPM and %, temperature, memory clock and GPU clock and refreshes the output every second:

You can save this in a plain text file and make it executable. Then you just have to double click on it and terminal will open running the command. Enjoy!

hi Guys.

I've changed my RX580 to Vega64 and im still getting crashes on FCPX and Adobe Premiere on things like Scrubbing the timeline or tweaking color adjustments.
The machine got black screen (no restart) and system freezes.

I've done all kinds of changes in Clover, Igpu on off, ID change, etc

When i run tests like unigine i see my fan speed doesnt change (50%max) but temps gets higher

please help

@CMMChris Can the POWERPLAY Table be extracted from Windows 10 and inserted into macOS Mojave for identical performance?  Windows 10 runs my ASRock Vega 64 perfectly and would love to replicate in macOS if possible.
