How do you reset to a working resolution_

I have now two black screen in high sierra and i can-t find where ResXtreme write its value to reset it

I tried to change the color depth to 30-bit few weeks ago and the same thing happened to me. It also gave me the black screen.

I have a multiple display setup. I changed one display's color depth and after I saw that it went black I used the other working one to change it back.

I guess you can plug one of your displays to another video output on your GPU and it will be detected with the original settings and revert back the color depth on the other one that it is still connected to the same output as you changed the settings on, and so on.

Try removing "com.apple.windowserver.plist" from library/prefrences.

ResXtreme changes the PixelEncoding from: --------RRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGBBBBBBBB (24Bit) to --RRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGBBBBBBBBBB (32Bit)

almost done

now i see login page in both my monitor

But when i insert password black screen again on botn monitors

Maybe a user setting to delete?

When I change the color depth these files change as well:

~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.loginwindows.........plist

~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.........plist

and

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.spaces.plist

You can remove the whole "ByHost" folder form your user folder because the files have a tail like: com.apple.loginwindow.DDE707F3-3801-5E48-93A9-B970C08725F7 that might be different from your system,

Can someone help me get this driver to install? I've tried all the tutorials and still nothing...

On which system you can't get it to work? Do you have EmuVaraiableUEFI.efi installed? and do you have NvidiaWeb checked?

Off-Topic but might be useful: (Feel free to delete if you must)

macOS reads the preferences files from /library/preferences and the /System folders and based on those files it will create a another version of them to ~/Library/Preferences so users can have their customized settings. So when we create another user macOS will copy the basic files and settings from /Library/Preferences to new user's Library.

tips

if you have a real 10 bit display and you have tried all method posted here to have a working rig but you have always a black screen with signal after NvidiaWeb driver installation, you can try to force resolution to 8 bit with ResXtreme app or similar

For a 4ktv (lg manufactered) i solved in this way (login with another pc with team viewer)

I hope this can help someone

Great  B)

Well I'm happy if it can help, that's the goal

u think that it'll be the new procedure for update to new versions?
(create custom package, uninstall, update and last install the custom package?)

it was the only form to avoid the gIOScreenLockState 3 error ... so thank you so much for your work

For my part it is a very good method pending the new Official Drivers
this allows us to test the Betas OS

On my Ryzen system, Nvidiaweb checked and EmuVaraiableUEFI.efi is grey in clover config.

EDIT: Nevermind. On the patcher when I ran it, it would still give that warning but ended up installing ok. I also added the fixup kext.

The new 121 driver and CUDA driver works fine with Skylake and Nvidia 1080 ti I can confirm - just a straight forward update.

They've pushed out a few minor updates for 10.13, which is promising. 10.13.1 final release is probably next week, so no doubt there'll be a new version of the web drivers not long after that

Would be good if they had proper release notes though. I'm still getting weird cursor lag when windows are loading/quitting. Also Firefox doesn't seem to be using the GPU properly (Google Maps is black, etc.)

Riavviare il sistema come indicato

      grazie
