So, I finally managed to upgrade to Mojave from 10.14 to 10.14.3 which took some time. I had to update to 10.14.2 first. That didn't work at first. I had to change language to english, then reboot twice from the update partition with NVDISABLE=1. The first time it always crashed durin the progress dialog. When updating to 10.14.3 it was the same: change language to english, reboot from update partition (twice) and then it worked.

The funny thing is: with 10.14. my GPU worked with disabled metal, now it doesn't any longer. Is Apple holding back Nvidia from relesing the drivers for Mojave???

Is there an alternative GPU you would recommend? I don't need it for gaming. Just producing Music and Sounddesign with occasional video editing (cutting and putting audio into it).

There are plenty of articles and rumors regarding the issues and lack of support for nVidia GPUs from Apple and most likely there won't be any update in that regard any time soon so your best bet is to go either with the nVidia GPUs that have native support in macOS which support metal or go for AMD GPUs which are fully compatible with mcOS like R9 Series or RX Series, the chipset version of the RX series is the RX 560 with 2 or 4 GB but if you need to edit videos in 4K resolution I suggest the 4GB RX 560 or better yet the RX 570.

I am thinking about switching to a Thunderbolt Interface by Universal Audio. Maybe an Apollo Twin. But I am a bit confused about whether or not the port on the back panel actually is Thunderbolt or not. In the manual it says:

Quote

• Chipset+Intel Thunderbolt 3 Controller:

  • -  1 x USB Type-CTM port on the back panel, with USB 3.1 support

  • -  1 x USB 3.1 port on the back panel

  •

Does this mean that this is Thunderbolt now, or not?

There's also a connector for an add-in card on the board, but I would prefer using the connector on the back panel if it is compatible.

Thanks.

I just did a clean install of Mojave 10.14.4 on a secondary SSD because my previous install didn't feel right. Initially I wanted to stay on HFS+, but when you do that combo updates don't work. Apple forces you into APFS this way…

However, I got my Nvidia GPU to work using this terminal scrip from Benjamin Dobell: https://github.com/Benjamin-Dobell/nvidia-update

It installs the latest Webdriver available and patches it so it works with Mojave. Dual Screen is working fine as well.

Hello,

Is the kext utility still necessary in 2019,
can kexts be downloaded through the Clover configurator?
I have a High Sierra 10.13.5 install file,

Z170X Gaming 5,

AMD Radion 580,
i7 6700k, skylake

I have tried so many installs, and various bios settings.
But cannot fix the finder video preview problem.
Quicktime and VLC freeze.

I would happily run Sierra or High Sierra, or Mojave.
Ideally high sierra though as some Music software I have does not seem to work with Mojave.

In 2019 should I go about a vanilla install as it is in this guide.

Also in terms of the RX580, should that be attached to MB from the start of vanilla install or not?
And in Bios I don't think I can choose secondary graphics,
just 'Initial Display Output'  IGFX, PCIE 1, 2, or 3
and then 'Internal Graphics' Enable/Disable

Hi

If you follow the same steps in creating the USB installer you can use the vanilla installation no need for any 3rd party tool to create the installer.

The preview and the Quick Look issue was discussed here in detail:

https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/334881-how-to-fix-quicklook-and-preview-loading-issues-in-mojave/?page=13&tab=comments#comment-2673762

and Kext Utility is needed if you are gonna install kext files inside /System/Library/Extensions or /Library/Extensions if you are going to use the /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other folder to inject kexts you won't need to use kext utility.

Do you use dual boot with windows 10?

I have experience issue that after booting to win10 my macOS won't boot unless bios reset =(

That behavior reproduce on Clover and OpenCore.

Yes I do have windows installed on another disk which I rarely use but I have no issues with booting into either one of them. I'm having the latest BIOS F22f I guess and I use Clover (always latest version) but thing is that I usually use mainboard's boot menu for switching the between the Ones rather than using Clover's GUI (old habits die hard I guess). :D

Hi to all.

I made OpenCore EFI folder for our config.

Before try you need to change these values on your own in PlatformInfo/Generic at config.plist:

MLB

SystemSerialNumber

SystemUUID

I have full working 10.15 beta 3 without any issues (except beta related)

Hi,

I updated to Catalina today (clean installl on new SSD) after upgrading my GPU to a MSI GTX 760 so I can upgrade. Graphics work fine, but I get random reboots when the system is under stress.

I still have High Sierra as my main OS on an M2 Drive and there are no issues so far. So I am thinking it's a config problem. I just installed Catalina from USB and copied over my old EFI folder with all latest kexts. I guess maybe there are som outdated patches in the config.

Anybody updated to Catalina yet who would share his config? There was some tool to have a look into the system logs right?

Thanks

Has soneone tried opencore bootloader on their system yet?

Is it better than clover?

I did give it a try once, it was successful but I switched back to Clover.

I still rather to use clover to be honest.

I think I'm gonna fiddle around with this a bit on my other ssd. I saw a tutorial by Snazzy Labs which also showed off how to create the ACPI thingy list automatically with a Windows app so it works optimally for my build.

There's also a solid configurator out there (which is not done by the clover guy which should be sloppy).

Using OpenCore since 0.1 version. Now it just works. ;) Updates, Sleep, USB and everything else. Sometimes i forgot that it's a hack, not mac ˆ)

Can you please upload your OpenCore EFI? Remove the serial number and private stuff of course.

The EFI folder I attached to the first post should work fine for booting into macOS Sierra. give them a try.

Make sure that HFSPlus.efi or the VboxHfs.efi are available inside the drivers folder and beware of the changed in the drivers folder structure inside EFI folder in new Clover revisions.

You're welcome.

The EFI folder for Sierra

https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=242040

Yes you need to put the EFI folder on a USB disk and boot from the USB and once you're back into macOS you can replace your HDD/SSD's clover with that one.

You can also use the High Sierra EFI folder to boot into macOS too (I guess)

This is how I would create my first hackintosh MacBookPro 13,2 on HP EliteBook 820 G3. I selected this one as an example because it has Ethernet and it. can be made as a perfect MacBookPro 13,2. This procedure will actually work with all Laptops and Desktops too. Watch the videos carefully.
      1. Gather all information about the hardware, download solftware, create flash drive installer with Catalina using Clover and OpenCore boot loaders.

      2. Understand the files inside boot loader and create the config files for both Clover and OpenCore boot loader.

      3. Actual installation and post installation.

Install macOS Catalina to External USB Hard Drive.

Patch DSDT and SSDTs for perfect Sleep/Wake and USB ports power.

      Use External USB Wifi

Install DW1820A instead of DW1560 for BT4.0 and Wifi.
      Patch AppleALC For Audio Codecs

      Cheers,
      Louis

Lenovo T460 macOS with Clover Guide
Latest Release on GitHub (July 2020) Updated to Clover r5120 Updated Lilu based kexts - Lilu, ALC, WEG Added AirportBrcmFixup.kext
Various Tweaks over Last months The main branch in my github repo is a complete Clover ESP (/EFI) bundle and kext pack for the Lenovo T460. The current file bundle seems to work on Sierra, HighSierra, Mojave and Catalina. There is an OpenCore branch in the repo as an alternative to Clover. This guide was developed for a Clover implementation. But the thread has evolved to include discussion of both Clover and Opencore for these systems: T460 and T470 family of ThinkPads.

Full Clover file set - config.plist etc. Includes all custom kexts Includes custom DSDT/SSDT scripts and patches Utility scripts The zip bundles are posted to GitHub: https://github.com/tluck/Lenovo-T460-Clover/releases
Caveat: The T460 systems used here was configured with: i5-6300U, Intel HD Graphics 520, 1920x1080 touch screen. If you have a different system model, then extract the ACPI files and use the included scripts to create a set of files consistent with your system type and BIOS version. See below for details.
Credits: RehabMan, Shmilee, vusun123, TimeWalker, Mieze from which, much of their work and help is/was was used to get the T460 to this point.
      Devices and aspects working:
Ethernet -  Intel I219LM is enabled via IntelMausiEthernext.kext WiFi/BT - substitute the Intel WiFi/BT with a compatible Broadcom or Atheros chip Audio - ALC293 codec implemented via AppleALC.kext (the old AppleHDA_ALC293 and CodecCommander kexts are not needed) PS2 - ClickPad + TrackPoint + all 3 buttons - using a modified VoodooPS2Controller to support new layouts - and added some custom Fn key maps based on 440/450 dsdt USB - implemented via custom SSDT + USBInjectAll kext. All USB3/USB2 ports are intel-based and work -  3 external USB and internal Camera, BT, etc  Sleep/Wake - the sleepwatcher package and custom sleep/wake scripts are used to help with sleep/wake for BT and PS2 devices. Note: have not tried to implement the SD card reader - no driver found.

      Hi everyone,

I'm trying to install MacOS Catalina on the ACER C22-760 (i3 6100U, 520 HD)

I did all the usual prep to install the system, especially as I've done hackintoshes with the same specs in the past.

But after the moment it boots up, the screen goes black. So I decided to install the system booted in 0x12345678 and then fix the graphics.

Long story short, with the installation done I've tried every single combination to fix the graphics and found out that:
Booting with a 0x12345678, a 1080p monitor is detected, but obviously, no acceleration. Booting only with AAPL,ig-platform-id set to 19160000, the system boots with complete acceleration but no monitor attached into any framebuffer. About this Mac reports a 1280 x 1024 monitor (Found using Anydesk and ioreg remotely.) Changing the connector type to DP or HDMI, Internal o External, platform-id is useless. This system is getting me anxious. Because I don't find any fix for it.
Someone can help me out? Love ya!
PD: The system is an All In One with no HDMI port.

If you need to boot with SIP disabled you may use "config_debug.plist" or disable it manually in Clover settings. Post Installation:
Download Clover Configurator and generate a new Serial Number for yourself
      Some pictures:

Catalina & Windows 10 Dual-Boot (clean install, on one drive):
Boot into your Mac installer, Create 2 partitions in GUID table (1 for Win (I used FAT32 but I think it doesn't matter what you choose), 1 for Mac)
Install Mac, boot with your USB, mount your EFI partition (use terminal or an EFI mounter app), create an EFI folder (if there is no folder), copy the CLOVER folder I attached to the EFI folder, restart
Boot into your Win installer, Format the partition you created for Win, install.
Now, it's automatically booting into Windows. To use Clover open cmd in administrator, type:
      bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\CLOVER\CLOVERX64.efi
You're done! It will booting into Clover when you start the system, and you can select Win or Mac (or another OS if installed on a 3rd partition).

IF YOU GETTING ERRORS DURING WINDOWS INSTALLATION (could not be formatted, etc):
Make sure you have GPT partitions, and GPT (UEFI) installer, also disconnect all external storage drives (except the installer USB)
      Mounting EFI from Windows:
Open cmd in administrator mode and type: mountvol b: /s (This will mount your EFI) Open Total Commander or Explorer++ in administrator mode to manage EFI mountvol b: /d (This will unmount your EFI)

Installed Catalina 10.15.4 (19E287) Vanilla with OpenCore on my HP Elitedesk 800 G2 Mini.

Everything is working (Wifi isn't but I'm using Ethernet anyway) but my second display.

I'm trying to get them both connected via DisplayPort as the only other output on my computer is VGA.

I've tried manually setting the framebuffer arguments, but I cannot get it to output to both displays. Yet if I unplug one and restart, it will use the other one just fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
