OSX86 Noob
Installed JaS Mac OSX 10.4.7 through VMWare without any problem, works fine. But when I reboot and go into the MacOSX parition natively, during the bootup process, it prints "still waiting for root device". I've searched through the forum and most people think that it's concerned with the compatability of the SATA controller chip. So I wanna ask whether mine is supported? If it is, how can I get pass the problem? If not, what can I do to get it supported? My motherboard Intel PQ965GF (Q965 chipset) spec: http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/DQ965GF/ And my machine spec right below in my signature. Thank you! OSX86 Noob
downloaded JaS's latest 10.4.8 installation DVD.. still.. the same "still waiting for root device" line appears... Can anybody please help? Is Intel ICH8 still not supported by OSX yet? Are there any ways to get it working? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks a lot. macmaniac
You could try an add-on SATA card. This one is a bit pricey, but is mac/windows compatible: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16816115029 I think there are cheaper ones available, just google around.... panos_stealth
P965 is not yet compatible !!!! BUT you have one more chance if you try to install the 10.4.7 on a SATA 1 not SATA 2 I did so and it worked . I have The ASUS P5B Deluxe which is based on P965 as yours You simply have to wait.... kle500
Thank you all I would wait for Leopard then. Leo I was also unable to install any Version on my new PC, so i think the best thing to do, is wait for 965 support. Motherboard: INTEL DG965WH I was thinking on selling this board and getting an 945G board, but i think my Core2Duo 6400, will not show it's best power on 945 boards. Am i right? So i assume that having an Intel board with: G965 chipset X3000 onboard graphics SigmaTel STAC9271 audio Intel 82566DC Gigabit will be greatly supported in the near future. If anybody beleive that i will not loose to much from going on G945, then i may sell my G965 board. Regards
sigxcpu
DP965LT works in AHCI mode only (no IDE/ICH8 mode though) unfortunately XP works in IDE mode only (no AHCI) dual-boot is pain in the ass, going through BIOS every time
