Brumbaer
First test of an 7700K in a z170 board. At stock speed the results are as expected. Tomorrow I have a go at overclocking the chip.
josbeir
Looks good, did it work OOB or did you need some tweaks like FakeID ? Planning on buying one myself. What about motherboard compatibility?
Brumbaer
I had to use a Skylake CPUId. Motherboard compatibility ? I used a z170 board, so no surprises as long as the BIOS supports Kaby Lake.
MattsCreative
Not bad but 4790k is still more stable and faster it seems
Brumbaer
Wouldn't know why a Kaby Lake should be less stable. State of affairs regarding performance:

Brumbaer
Ok, delidded the processor and used Liquid Metal. Stopped at 5.1GHz and Cache 4.7GHz. Temps well below 70 degrees under stress. Didn't try 5.2 GHz. I expect it to work, but would have to cross the 1.4V line. Next step: Stress tests.

Brumbaer
Not much to add. I use it as my main computer for about 4 weeks now. Tried the IGPU, which works with a FakeID. Put it in a new case, as can be seen here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/320345-tardis-case-fo-the-kaby-lake/?hl=%2Btardis&do=findComment&comment=2364096
