Ok, so first time poster, first time trying to install on a PC, but I've done hours upon hours of research over the last couple days.

I have an ASUS UX306UA ultrabook. It's got a Skylake i7, 8gb of RAM, and a 512gb SSD. I can boot clover fine, I can get to the installer fine and it's all good until it gets to the screen asking where to install. It only sees the flash drive I'm installing from (and now a micro sd card I have in the slot) but does not see my SSD. I have everything set correctly in the BIOS. AHCI is on, Secure Boot disabled, VT-d disabled, fast boot off, booting in UEFI.

I know the drive is good as my Windows install, and Linux install both work beautifully. I've set aside a partition for OS X, but the entire drive just does not show up in Disk Utility nor in System Profiler.

I'm at a loss as to how to proceed, as I said I'm new to the OS X side of things. I'm guessing I need to get ahold of some modified kext files to fix this issue, but not sure where to start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it's telling me to give up on using Sierra and to go for a different version. I just really want to get my triple boot working.

Thanks!

Well, sadly that didn't help unless I messed up.

Tried using those 3 kext files, still not showing up.

Used Gparted from my Linux install to format the partition as HFS+, still not showing up.

Tried watching the videos, but can't understand them as I don't speak the language, although I tried to follow along visually, still not working

hi..

I read this , and made sense for me..

"Is your Clover Legacy or UEFI build? What is the setting in the BIOS for CSM support? Are SATA ports set for UEFI only, UEFI + Legacy or Legacy only in the BIOS?"

c.frio

I'll post shots of my BIOS after I get home, but Clover is UEFI, the ssd is an M.2 sata, and the only sata option in my BIOS is to set it to AHCI, which I've done. Not sure about CSM off the top of my head but I believe it's disabled? Again I'll check when I get home and post some pics

Here's the shots from my BIOS

As far as I can tell I have it all set correctly, at least the option I can use. I can boot to Clover fine, and Clover sees the drive, the only thing that doesn't is the macOS installer

Use the SATA-100-series-unsupported.kext that I created (google for it).

Thanks! Will give it a try

No luck with that kext. Tried it in both the 10.12 folder and then tried again in the Other folder

Your problem can also be ACPI related. Perhaps you are dropping too many SSDTs.

Attach your EFI/Clover (less themes).

Also, attach 'lspci -nn' output from Linux Terminal.

Here's the lspci report

I'll attach the Clover file in a sec

Your config.plist is rather minimal, and likely not adequate. Use google to search for my laptop Clover guide. It has a link to my github with proper plists for common laptop configurations.

Will do, thanks again for the help.

Ok, I found the github link and snagged the config for the HD520. Was able to boot to clover like normal, then it went to the black loading screen with the Apple logo, when the bar was about 95% filled, the spinning rainbow circle popped up and it's been spinning for the last 15 minutes with no change. Didn't make it to the installer this time.

Sounds like an issue with FakeSMC.kext. The one you have in kexts/Other is rather old.

But it could also be a graphics issue (BIOS settings not right, or you need to inject EDID).

You can always boot with an invalid ig-platform-id (eg. 0x12345678) to take away any graphics issues.

Replaced FakeSMC with your latest

Checked BIOS settings for graphics, tried all the pre-allocated settings from 32MB to 512MB. Tried using Inject EDID as well as Inject Intel, no combination worked.

Tried the invalid id.

None of it worked.

What surprises me is that with my old config.plist, it would actually get to the installer, but with the new one it doesn't.

Also double checked to make sure my SSD was not NVMe and it's not so that shouldn't be an issue

Holy {censored} I may have gotten it! I'll post back if I can get it up and running

Ok, I got it to finally see the drive. I went back to the old config.plist, made sure to inject Intel, used the SATA 100 injector, as well as the 3 kext files from the link in post 2 and it's now seeing the drive. It's still not seeing the HFS partition I made, but PROGRESS!

So, install went off without a hitch, I can boot into Sierra from the USB, but not from the hard drive. I have clover installed to the drive, but I get a cpu 0 caller panic when I try to boot from the drive

Make sure you configured Clover exactly as USB (config.plist, drivers64UEFI, kexts, etc).

Equal input will result in equal results.

Took me a bit to get it the same, I was blind and couldn't find the EFI partition but I finally got it going!

Now the fun part of getting everything working.

Thanks again for your help RehabMan, much appreciated
