Let me explain: It used to be in Console that you could see kernel[0] messages in system.log. I don't know at what precise moment that changed, I just didn't pay attention but now on macOS Sierra (10.12.1 (16B2555)) it only shows bootlog[0] messages. I have read man syslog, man asl.conf and adjusted asl.conf but nothing I tried made kernel[0] messages appear. I am trying to get back a system.log where I can see the same messages as when I boot up with -v. Am I the only one missing the verbosity in /var/log/system.log like OS X 10.9?
