callmesnake Posted November 1, 2006 Share Posted November 1, 2006 hi all, just got my new install semtex 8.81 kernel ( Jas new 10.4.8 dvd) was running sweet !! after running up software update for only installing Qt 7.1.3 and itunes 7 . it's killed the darwin mac os x boot loader , no boot at all. just a flashing cursor . It might of been messed up before you upgraded. Many people are having to boot from a DVD bootloader to run 10.4.8. Because of messing with Bootloader problems today, I am installing a slim 10.4.3 as my boot partition on a USB drive. Then I am putting 10.4.8 on the second partition. This way I won't have to depend on a DVD to somehow boot OSX10.4.8 to test it. I will evenually figure out the MBR problem. For now I just want to test everything out.
