Intel HD Graphics (Ivy B.) / HD 2500 : QE/CI for OsX 10.11

I have an almost fully working Intel HD Graphics in ElCapitan.

At least QE & CI are working. I had graphic glitches in Dock background and windows titles, apparently due to my MBP9.2 SmBios (which I want to keep for Power Management reasons)

It's on an Asus Laptop (F301A-RX229H) with an Intel Pentium Mobile 2020M, which includes an Intel HD Graphics, not labelled 2500, but it has 6 execution Units like the 2500 series, and approximately same clock settings (650-1100) instead of 650-1150 for HD2500. You can check specs here and here. It seems like it's a lower end HD2500.

Vendor ID 8086 of course, Device ID 0156, rev 0009.
I use chameleon with GraphicsEnabler=Yes, GraphicsMode=1366x768x32, IntelCapriFB=3
(with Moutain Lion, previous setup on the same laptop, with QE/CI too, required IGPlatformID=01660003)

I have vanilla AGPM and IntelGraphics kexts, SmBios MacBookPro 9.2, as mentionned before, and a custom DSDT, device is named GFX0.

Graphic Glitches were solved (accordingly to real macbookpro users forums) by reducing transparency in Accessibility Preferences Panel.

Could you please share your DSDT? Or just tell me if you applied any of the graphics patches to get the graphics working? Thanks!

 

I have the same "Intel HD Graphics" and the only way I could make it work at all is by renaming GFX0 to IGPU and using HD2500 patch. I don't have QE/CI (well, maybe CI), it is recognized as Intel HD Graphics 2500 1536 MB. Usable, but with many problems.

 

EDIT: It works without QE/CI with MacBookPro 9.2, unpatched DSDT (GFX0), FakeID=0x01568086, ig-platform-id=01660003/8, Inject Intel

Hello. I know it's a old thread. But can you please share your DSDT or the method to patch it? I am stuck with a notebook with Celeron 1007U Ivy Bridge which apparently has the same GPU: 0156.

 

P.S.: I believe I got everything working in the installer but during the post install I got a glitched screen even though the mouse pointer was correctly visible.

I switched to Asus GeForce 210, it works perfectly...

 

For patching your DSDT in MaciASL you should just add this repo: http://pjalm.com/repos/graphicsin Preferences -> Sources, after enabling it you will see a number of patches on the left side (Patch section at the top)

I could share my DSDT but it wouldn't be usable on your machine. Create your clean DSDT by pressing F4 in main Clover bootloader screen and then edit it with MaciASL, there is a guide for that

Unfortunately I don't have an option of switching to a different GPU since I am using a very low end netbook. However I was able to boot to Sierra Installer at 1366x768 using Clover (ig-platform-id=01660003 & Inject Intel, DSDT unpatched, Inject Intel). However when booting for Post-Installation, I got weird graphic glitch in the background (rainbow coloured texture :P). However I don't know if this graphic glitch is the same one that oliviero talks about in the first post. And also I can boot without Inject Intel though but it goes to 1024x768.

 

Also thanks for the help. I saw the posts about DSDT now and I patched mine. Will be trying that now.

UPDATE: I could not get it to work even after DSDT patches. Next I am switching to Enoch to try it out.

Alright, first install with Enoch, I am getting a bit better result I think.

 

I am in the first boot of Sierra right now and It booted in 1366x768 without any problem with same settings as installer and apparently no graphics issues right now (after rebuilding kernel cache, without rebuilding there was similar although graphical glitch as clover although I could see the apple screen sometimes unlike clover). Will check later if QE/CI is actually enabled.

 

EDIT: Looks like QE/CI isn't active yet but the GPU is being detected correctly.

 

EDIT2: I checked correctly and GraphicsEnabler is randomly causing screen glitches once in a while. QE/CI still off.

      O que você precisa para instalar
       
      - Instalação do El Capitan funcionando no VMware -> Baixei a versão 10.11 por torrent (busque torrent por "10.11 vmware"). Você pode usar um Mac real de um amigo. Meu método só funciona no Mavericks (10.9) e acima.
      - Um pendrive de 8GB ou maior.
      - App de instalação do OS X El Capitan -> Baixe na App Store por dentro da máquina virtual. Baixei a versão 10.11.5.
      - CloverEFI -> Também baixe por dentro da máquina virtual. Eu usei a compilação 3577.
      - Habilidade em DSDT patch-> Necessário para a bateria funcionar. [Guia] DSDT/SSDT - Conhecimentos Gerais. Ou você pode baixar o meu DSDT abaixo, mas eu não recomendo.
       
       
      Como criar o pendrive
       
      Criando a instalação:
       
      Formate o pendrive com partição GUID e nomeie como "Install"
       
      Abra o terminal e execute o comando:
       
       
      Isso vai levar 30 minutos.

      Instalando o bootloader:
       
      Baixe o CloverEFI (usei 3577) e instale com essas opções em "Install OS X El Capitan":

      Opções:
       
      - Install for UEFI booting only
      - Install Clover in the ESP
      - Drivers64UEFI - CsmVideoDxe-64
      - Drivers64UEFI - OsxAptioFixDrv-64
       
      Vai ser criado uma partição com nome EFI. Edite o arquivo /EFI/CLOVER/config.plist e altere os seguintes valores:
        - Graphics - Inject - ATI - <false/> - Graphics - Inject - Intel - <true/> - Graphics - ig-platform-id - 0x01660003 - KernelAndKextPatches - AsusAICPUPM - <true/>   Importante: Renomeie "#Inject" para "Inject" e "#ig-platform-id" para "ig-platform-id".   Obs.: Vou deixar em anexo meu config.plist.   Agora você vai precisar dessas duas Kexts:
       
      - Baixar a kext Smart Touchpad. Eu usei a versão 4.6.
      - Baixar o dmg do HWSensors e utilizar a FakeSMC.kext de dentro. Eu usei a versão 6.20.1410. Isso é muito importante. Não dá pra dar boot sem ele.
      - Coloque essas Kexts dentro de /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11/
      - Coloque o instalador do Clover dentro do pendrive também.
       
      Agora você pode iniciar a inalação sem problema (eu acho).
       
       
      Configuração do Setup da BIOS e Instalação
       
      - Desligue o ultrabook e insira o pendrive.
      - Ligue com a tecla F2 apertada para entrar no Setup da BIOS.
      - Vá para "Save & Exit" e selecione "Restore Defaults".
      - Vá para aba "Advanced" e altere esses valores:
      - Intel Virtualization Technology: Disabled
      - VT-d: Disabled
      - USB Configuration - XHCI Pre-Boot Mode: Disabled
      - Vá para "Save & Exit" novamente e selecione "Save Changes".
      - Agora na seção "Boot Override" selecione o pendrive que vai estar com onome começando com UEFI. No meu caso "UEFI: KingstonDataTraveler 2.0PMAP".
      - O menu do Clover vai aparecer. Use as setas do teclado para selecionar o pendrive. Vai até a opção com o nome de "Boot OS X Install from Install OS X El Capitan", então aperter Enter.
      - Se você fez tudo corretamente, sua instalação vai inciar. Lembre-se: Formatar o HDD ou SSD com partição GUID.
      - Isso vai levar cerca de 20 minutos.
      - Depois da instalação da primeira parte o sistema vai reiniciar. Você precisa segurar o botão ESC para entrar no menu de Boot quando aparecer a logo da Asus.
      - Selecione o pendrive novamente.
      - No menu do Clover, aperte Enter em "Boot OS X Install from Install OS X El Capitan" mais uma vez.
      - A segunda parte da instalação vai começar. Isso leva cerca de 16 minutos.
       
      Pós instalação
       
      - Quando a segunda parte da instalação acabar, o sistema vai reiniciar novamente.
      - Após realizar a configuração inicial de usuário e ir para a área de trabalho, você precisará instalar o Clover no disco interno.
      - Abra o instalador do Clover dentro do pendrive que você copiou anteriormente.
      - Use as mesmas opções acima mas dessa vez escolha o a partição do sistema.
      - Agora você precisa substituir a pasta EFI de dentro da partição EFI do disco interno com a pasta EFI da partição EFI do pendrive.
      - A partição EFI do pendrive não vai estar montada. Monde com "diskutil mount /dev/rdiskXs1". Para saber qual é o X, use "diskutil list", mas provavelmente será 1.
      - Agora reinicie o sistema. Você vai precisar apertar ESC para entrar no menu de Boot quando aparecer a logo da Asus.
      - Selecione o pendrive novamente.
      - No menu do Clove, use as setas do teclado e vá para a última opção com nome "Clover Boot Options" e aperte Espaço. - Selecione a opção "Add Clover boot options for all entries".
      - Desligue, remova o pendrive e ligue.
      - Se você fez tudo corretamente, o sistema vai iniciar normalmente.
       
      Outras Kexts:
       
      Baixe as kexts nos links abaixo. Eu recomendo fortemente sempre usar versões mais novas. Se você estiver com preguiça, eu anexei no final desse post.
       
      Rede: AtherosE2200Ethernet 2.1.0
      Som: VoodooHDA 2.8.8 (use o arquivo PKG). Você precisa selecionar a saída nas Preferências do Sistemas após reiniciar.
      Bateria: ACPIBatteryManager by RehabMan (versão 2016-0531). Você precisa do path DSDT (abaixo).

      What you need to install
       


      - Running install of El Capitan on VMware -> Downloaded version 10.11 via torrent (search by "10.11 vmware" torrent). You can use a real Mac of an friend. My method only works on Mavericks (10.9) and above.
      - One USB flash drive of 8GB or bigger.
      - OS X El Capitan install app -> Downloaded via App Store inside the virtual machine. Downloaded version 10.11.5.
      - CloverEFI -> Also download inside the virtual machine. I used build 3577.
      - DSDT patch skills -> Needed to battery works. How to patch DSDT. Or you can download mine DSDT below, but would not recommend.

       
       
      How create the flash drive
       
      Creating the install:
       
      Format the flash drive with GUID partition mapping and name it "Install"
       
      Open terminal and run this command:
       
       
       
       
      This will take about 30 minutes.

      Installing bootloader:
       
      Download the CloverEFI (used 3577) and install with this options on "Install OS X El Capitan":

      Options:
       
      - Install for UEFI booting only
      - Install Clover in the ESP
      - Drivers64UEFI - CsmVideoDxe-64
      - Drivers64UEFI - OsxAptioFixDrv-64
       
      Will be created a partition named EFI. Edit the /EFI/CLOVER/config.plist and change those values:
       
      - Graphics - Inject - ATI - <false/>
      - Graphics - Inject - Intel - <true/>
      - Graphics - ig-platform-id - 0x01660003
      - KernelAndKextPatches - AsusAICPUPM - <true/>
       
      Important: Rename "#Inject" to "Inject" and "#ig-platform-id" to "ig-platform-id".
       
      P.s.: I will provide below my config.plist as attachment.
       

      Now you will need two Kexts:
       
      - Download the Smart Touchpad kext from here. I used the version 4.6.
      - Download the HWSensors dmg and use the FakeSMC.kext from inside. I used the version 6.20.1410. This is very important. Can't boot without it.
      - Put these Kexts inside /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11/
      - Put the Clover installer on the flash drive too.

       
      Now you can start the instalation without problem (I guess).
       
       
      BIOS Setup Configuration and Installation
       
      - Shutdown the ultrabook and insert the flash drive.
      - Power on with F2 pressed to enter BIOS setup.
      - Go to "Save & Exit" and press "Restore Defaults".
      - Go to "Advanced" tab and change these values:
       
      - VT-d: Disabled
      - Go to "Save & Exit" again and select "Save Changes".
      - Now in "Boot Override" section select the flash drive named with UEFI prefix. In my case "UEFI: KingstonDataTraveler 2.0PMAP".
      - The clover menu will show. Use the arrow keys to mark the flash drive. The option name is "Boot OS X Install from Install OS X El Capitan", then press Enter.
      - If you did everything correctly, you can start the installation. Remember: Format the HDD or SSD with GUID partition mapping.
      - This will take about 20 minutes.
      - After first part install the system will reboot. You need to press ESC to enter Boot menu when Asus logo appear.
      - Select the flash drive again.
      - In Clover main menu, press enter in "Boot OS X Install from Install OS X El Capitan" once again.
      - The second part of the installation will begin. This will take 16 minutes.
       
       
      Post installation
       
      - When the second part of install finish, the system will reboot again.
      - After performing the user initial setup and go to the desktop, you need to install Clover on internal disk.
      - Open the Clover installer inside flash drive that you copied before.
      - Use same options above but choose the system partition this time.
      - Now you need to replace the EFI folder inside your internal disk EFI parittion with EFI folder inside flash card EFI partition.
      - The flash drive EFI partition is unmounted. Mount with "diskutil mount /dev/rdiskXs1". To know what X is, use "diskutil list", most likely is 1.
      - Now restart the system. You need to press ESC to enter Boot menu when Asus logo appear.
      - Select the flash drive again.
      - In Clover menu, use arrows and go to the last option with name "Clover Boot Options" and press Space.
      - Select the option "Add Clover boot options for all entries".
      - Shutdown, remove the flash drive and power on.
      - If you do everything wright, the system will start normally.
       
      Others Kexts:
       
      Download the kexts from the links below. I strongly recommend always use newest versions. If you are too lazy, I attach on end of the post.
       
      Ethernet: AtherosE2200Ethernet 2.1.0
      Sound: VoodooHDA 2.8.8 (use PKG file). You need to select the output there in System Preferences after reboot.
      Battery: ACPIBatteryManager by RehabMan (version 2016-0531). You need to path DSDT (below).
      Bluetooth: Bluetooth Firmware Uploader (version 3.1).
      Integrated Camera: AnyiSightCam
      USB Port Injector: FakePCIID and FakePCIID_XHCIMux (version 2016-0512) and USB.kext attached below.
       
      All kexts will placed inside /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.11/, mount again this partition (diskutil mount /dev/rdiskXs1) for it.

      Vi illustrerò tre metodi per creare la usb, ma sono ben distinti… quindi usatene soltanto uno
      Metodo 1: “Install Mac_OS_X.command” Metodo 2: “Create Install Media di Apple” Metodo 3:  Metodo Manuale Alla fine delle preparazione dell’installer, tutti i metodi necessitano l’installazione del Bootloader Clover sulla a vostra USB.
      “CONDIZIONI OBBLIGATORIE”
      PUNTO 1: che la vostra usb sia stata preventivamente nominata USB (caratteri maiuscoli) Tabella di partizione GUID e la formattazione in  Mac esteso Journaled.
      PUNTO 2: che l’installer di OSX si trovi in Applicazioni
      Utility Disco 
      Selezionate la pendrive, andate su “partizione”, selezionate “1 partizione”, impostate Mac OS esteso journaled e date il nome USB, poi in basso cliccate su opzioni e scegliete Tabella partizione (GUID), poi “applica”.

      Riporto nuovamente l’operazione sopra citata adoperando dal nuovo Utility Disco introdotto su El Capitan.
      Rimane ovviamente invariato nome della usb in ==>> USB (maiuscolo), la formattazione in Mac esteso Journaled e sia la mappa partizione in GUID
      Da utility disco selezionate la usb, cliccate su inizializza.

      Procedura effettua da High Sierra è la stessa della precedente, l'unica attenzione e operazione da aggiungere in primis  è cliccare nel menù a tendina in alto sulla sinistra di utility disco e selezionare "mostra tutti i dispositivi"

        METODO 1: "Install_Mac_OS_X.Command" Lo script che trovate allegato in fondo alla guida permette la creazione dell’installer in maniera automatica
      Include la possibilità di scelta di tre versioni di osx
      Yosemite El Capitan Sierra Il risultato finale è come quello del metodo "manuale" descritto nella guida, per cui l'installazione avverrà in un solo passaggio, non in due come con il metodo createinstallmedia. 
      Offre inoltre la possibilità di inserire un kernel patchato, utile, per esempio, per chi usa AMD.
      Rimane invariato il nome dato alla usb in USB, mappa partizione e tipo di formattazione
      Se la vostra usb non sarà rinominata nel modo corretto, verrete avvisati dal terminale, quindi non dovrete far altro che apportare la relativa modifica e rilanciare nuovamente lo script

      Metodo 2 
      L'intento è quello di usare la procedura fornitaci direttamente da Apple, "createinstallmedia", introdotta  con Mavericks. 
      Tale metodo prevede l’uso del terminale che via via se ne sta perdendo il “valore e l’uso”
      Inizialmente per i neofiti potrà sembrare problematico ma alla fine non è così.
      Durante il post installazione alcune operazioni ne richiedono l’ uso.
      Perciò mi sono chiesto perchè, qualora uno volesse, non far conoscere da subito un po’ questo “strumento”???
      Per favorirvi vi ho allegato i comandi già  “pronti”, i quali li potrete copiare ed incollare sul terminale.
      A questo punto aprite il terminale, copiate ed incollate il comando sottostante e premete invio, digitate la vostra password e premete nuovamente invio.
      Comando per creare USB con Yosemite:

      Avendo usato questo metodo l'installazione si dividerà in due fasi, perciò dopo il primo riavvio e necessario far partire nuovamente l'installer, selezionare lo stesso disco senza formattarlo.
      Finita questa ulteriore fase , l'installazione sarà terminata

      Bootloader
      **Nota:** Installazione in UEFI  dipenderà dalla scheda madre in vostro possesso, quindi se non supporta tale opzione , il bootloader dovrà essere installato in  modalità Legacy.
       Vi invito, qualora non sapeste questa informazione, a recarvi nel sito ufficiale del produttore e controllare le informazioni a riguardo
      Fatto questo dobbiamo installare  Clover sulla usb.
      A seconda del tipo di Bios o al tipo di installazione che vogliamo fare UEFI o Legacy avremo ovviamente configurazioni diverse in questa fase.
      Lanciate il pkg.

      Cambiate la destinazione di installazione ad USB oppure Install Mac_OS_X (a secondo del tipo di creazione eseguita)
      Successivamente clicchiamo su "Ad Hoc"
      Per Installazione UEFI
      Mettete i flag   : Installazione solo per avvio UEFI
                               : installare Clover nella ESP
                               : Driver64UEFI  AptioMemory --> (consigliato) ->  Link download
       Può essere solo aggiunto manualmente scaricando dal link sopra e collocandolo nella rispettiva cartella
       NOTA: in questo caso non selezionare nessun OsxAptioFixDRV durante l'installazione di clover oppure rimuovetelo                        successivamente. 
                               : Driver64UEFI  ApfsDriverLoader --> (consigliato) --> sostituisce l'uso del driver apfs.efi
                               : Selezionate l'altri driver come da successiva immagine,
       
      *Nota: Altri driver che si possono usare  al suo posto  sono:

      Proseguite con l’installazione.

      ** Ricordate che avrete accesso a questa cartella dopo aver montato la partizione EFI**

      Impostazione per config.plist:
      Con clover configurator “montate” la partizione EFI della usb.
      1) Per fare questo nel menù di sinistra, cliccate su “Mount EFI”
      2) individuate la partizione relativa alla vostra usb, a questo punto montiamo la relativa partizione EFI  selezionando l’apposito pulsante “Mount Partition”

      3) Successivamente cliccate su “Open Partition”.. recatevi in EFI/Clover ed aprite il config.plist
      4) Sezione ACPI: Disabilitate tutti i fix sia del menù 1 che del menù 2

      5) Sezione BOOT: Sole se si sta installando Yosemite mettete il flag su kext-dev-mode=1

      6) Sezione RT Variables: Se si sta installando El Capitan oppure Sierra, aggiungere i valori: BooterConfig= 0x28, CsrActiveConfig= 0x67

      7) Sezione System Parameters: Su inject kext mettete YES

      Nota: Su El Capitan, è stato introdotto SIP (System Integrity Protection)

      Recatevi in EFI/Clover/kext/10.x 
      X= alla versione di osx che state installando. Per esempio se installerete Yosemite dovrete recarvi nella cartella 10.10, con El Capitan in 10.11….ecc
      Se non ci fosse tale cartella, createla e nominatela voi a “modo”.
      Copiatevi all’interno FakeSmc.kext
      *Nota se venite già da altre vostre configurazioni, oltre kext sopra citato ,potete mettere gli altri necessari per il vostro hardware
      Stessa cosa se avete DSDT e/o SSDT potete copiarli in EFI/Clover/Acpi/Patched

      Per High Sierra:
      Scaricare il driver apfs.efi a fine guida, collocarlo:
          --> EFI/clover/Driver64UEFI se stiamo usando UEFI
      --> EFI/Clover/Driver64 se stiamo usando Legacy
       
      Per chi volesse continuare ad usare HFS vi rimando a questo post:

      Utenti Laptop:  Nel 99% è obbligatorio disattivare la grafica discreta Nvidia/Amd per installare questo nuovo osx
                                     Quindi aggiungete --> SSDT-Disable_DGPU.aml.zip
                                     in EFI/Clover/acpi/Patched della usb

      Per Mojave:
      Scaricare il driver apfs.efi per 10.14 a fine guida, collocarlo:
          --> EFI/clover/Driver64UEFI se stiamo usando UEFI
      --> EFI/Clover/Driver64 se stiamo usando Legacy
      Versione di clover non antecedente a V_4015
      Volete usare HFS?
      E' possibile fare un installazione diretta su altro disco o partizione, nel caso può essere usato anche per effettuare aggiornamenti...
      nel caso guardate...
       Mojave in HFS 
       Oppure direttamente da usb  
       
      Fatto questo avrete la vostra USB bootable per installare OSX.
      ………Non scordatevi Fakesmc.kext da mettere nella relativa cartella…. senza il quale non farete mai il Boot......
      *NOTA: se usato il terminale per la creazione della usb, l'installazione si dividerà in due fasi, perciò dopo il primo riavvio e necessario far partire nuovamente l'installer, selezionare lo stesso disco senza formattarlo.
      Finita questa ulteriore fase , l'installazione sarà terminata
      **NOTA** Se avete processori Broadwell,Skylake o Kabylake...usate FakeSmc.kext e relativi sensors che trovate all'interno del secondo pacchetto.. (potete usarlo anche sui precedenti senza problemi, essendo una versione più aggiornata ha ulteriore supporto per le cpu più recenti)
