Mal
Hi, First of all, I'm a n00b here so let me just say - Wicked Forum! And thanks to everyone especially JaS for some awesome work! I'm having this weird problem. I've read a lot of posts about the ATi drives and installing them, etc, so I kinda know what's going on. I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 /w a ATI Radeon 9600 Mobility accelerator. If I install the 'Radeon Mobility Support' package without the 'GMA900 Support' package the screen goes all wonky with colours. I can tell stuff's actually working in the background, but the screen is all wierd like those RGB tests you see with 3D Mark or something. Only it looks {censored}. Any ideas? Thanks again for all the great tips and tricks thus far. -Mal
McSkywalker
Did you try callisto drivers?
Mal
Nope, what's that? I tried the drivers from a previous discussion: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...post&id=731 And I couldn't seem to get them to work. I was guessing it was because everyone seemed to be using a an older version (< 1.4.3). Using that driver and loading the kext, it kept coming up with "can't determine immediate dependencies for extension com.free.driver.Ati", etc, and "Couldn't alloc class "ATIFramebuffer"" ,yadda yadda and so on... Does that help any? Thanks, - Mal
Mal
Hi Guys, I managed to sort it out and it seems I'm getting full acceleration at the moment. I was just wondering, the native resolution of the Laptop is 1920x1200, I've noticed a few people with nVIDA cards and some ATi cards have had luck getting their res to that level. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with the Mobility Radeons? When I use "Graphics Mode"="1920x1200x32@60" it seems to default to 1600x1200. If anyone knows how to get it to full widescreen, I'd appreciate the help. THanks, - Mal
