So, I switched to T460. BCM94352Z is on its way.

Thanks to tluck for your work.

I am using your pack from 24.04.18.

Is there any thing else to take care about?

ie: usb restart fix, or is that already in the pack?

@verleihnix - well everything should be there

- execpt 1 thing: i had forgotten about the USB Fix. that is not in the most recent pack. but I just added to SSDT-HACK-T460.dsl for the next push.

$ cat SSDT-HACK-T460.dsl

Hello, my laptop is X270, a bit like yours T460, but the audio card. My audio is alc298, I tried to custom a new applealc, and replce your applealc.kext and lilu.kext. But find that if the applealc.kext is replaced or deleted. Computer will restart after boot automatically.

Hello! Can you send me your source code of AppleALC.kext? My E-mail is djydaw@163.com

you get it here:

https://github.com/tluck/AppleALC

there are not many differences between this kext and the original branch

- the big thing would be in controllers.plist where I add more patches for the FB.

- otherwise i added options for ThinkPad Docks for T460 and T420

Thanks! I downloaded your source codes. Then costumed them and recompiled them. Then I solved my problem. Thanks!

Hi tluck

after fiddling around for some time I have the t470p working in some parts based on this instructions.

missing right now:

a) Audio (ALC298) were (being a beginner in this hack) I still don't understand what to do.

b) adapting for docking station (I will do when I have Audio working

c) final adjustments for USB power (start working on that today)

d) wifi & BT.... waiting for the Broadcom card I have ordered

I just figured that in the beginning of the process I must have messed with my clover configs so I will have to merge my settings into your config.plist

everything else I managed to keep adjustments in the t470p folder I created based on your t460 folder.

So I guess soon I can send you the folder, that you can add it to your archive.

Thanks a lot for all the effort you have put into the guide. It helped me a lot in learning!!

All the Best

Frank

Dears

I am so happy!! :star_smile:

My Todolist from last time:

a) Audio (ALC298) were (being a beginner in this hack) I still don't understand what to do.  Done thanks to @djydaw

b) adapting for docking station (I will do when I have Audio working)

c) final adjustments for USB power (start working on that today) Done, thanks to my OmenX were I have kind of learned how to do it

d) wifi & BT.... waiting for the Broadcom card I have ordered Done, thanks to a german supplier not afraid to send parts to Middle East

e) Facetime & iMessage

f) Autologin with Apple Watch is not yet working. Started working now and I don't know why

g) Ethernet only works if plugged in during start. after that I can remove and / or sleep and it is ok

The docking station stuff has to wait until I get my station back. (need it in the office for the next weeks)

For those who are interested, I have attached the folder "DSDT.T470p" which belongs were the T460 and T560 folder are.

If I did not mess things up, it would work out of the box on any T470p with recent bios.

All the Best

Frank

Hi tluck

you are right... I should have copied my EFI folder as well. :wallbash:

I can do that tonight.

I had to replace the Broadcom kexts against the latest ones as I have the BCM943602BAED and it did not want to work with your set. in addition I am using the modded AppleALC.kext from djydaw. As soon as I find out what he did to make the the ALC298 working I want to document that.

As I have left as much as even possible original in your package, there is now a config-t460.plist, config-560.plist and a config.plist which I would rename to config-t470p.plist. Maybe this way we can keep the package working for everybody!?

I am working right now on some cosmetics (have a look at the ssd-arpt.dsl) were I am trying to have OSX filling the PCI tab in the system report properly. Not really needed, but I like it to have the information in place ;)

Thanks a lot for all the effort you have put in the guide. This made my build possible :thumbsup_anim:

All the Best

Frank

Hi @tluck

as I promised I wanted to upload my EFI folder but it is > 10MB (zipped) so I am wondering How I can get it to you?

Today I tried, just for curiosity, the HDMI port..... it did not work. gives me a new project and renders my todo list to be:

a) adapting for docking station (I will do when I have Audio working)

b) Ethernet only works if plugged in during start. after that I can remove and / or sleep and it is ok

c) HDMI not working so presentations / movies on my beamer :D

see you soon and all the Best

Frank

@franksanderdo

b) ethernet - i seem to recall having troubles with this too. so started using sleep watcher to turn it on/off

c) HDMI - i wonder if this port connected to the disabled discrete gfx ?

@tluck

sleep watcher... I will find it and test it. Even though I have no problem with sleep and ethernet.

It is only when starting / restarting the system ethernet has to be plugged in to be detected properly.

If I don't do that and plug it in after starting only, it detects the cable for a second and than say no cable and again cable detected and a second later no cable.... weird thing that is :D

Let me see what sleep watcher can do

For HDMI being connected to the Nvidia that is a good idea. I will try to find some more detailed docs on the T470p.

Reports will follow ;-)

Any Idea how I get the EFI Folder zip to you as it is to large for the 10 MB limit here?

All the Best

:wallbash:

why do I have to ask for the obvious???

Sorry for being a bit slow thinking this days. I will prepare the zip with only diffs this weekend

Good you remind were I have seen sleep watcher already. Reduces the searching time a lot :D

As I said, I am a bit tired and slow thinking this days. :wacko:

That did the trick, thank's @tluck:

I have replaced "T460" with "TP-R02" in all SSDT's.

I also have x260 and follows tluck's guide and your suggestion about replacing "T460" by "TP-R02" in all SSDT's. But I still have problem with the trackpoint. It moves but too jumpy. The 3 bottoms do not work. Not sure how to resolve this issue. Right now, I am using tluck's SSDT on PS2K for T460. With it, the trackpoint works very well, but the touchpad is not. In fact, touchpad moves slowly and is not smooth. Any idea from you or @tluck?

the more recent version of bundle has a new SSDT-T460-PS2K which now has a bunch of override settings. which make it easier to fiddle with versus messing with kext info.plist files.

Note: The value TP-RP02 has no use or significance - other than maybe he used it to match with to VoodooPSController kext profiles?

I was setting value T460 and there is a matching profile in the VoodooPS2 kexts. but now the values are in the SSDT too.

@Tluck, I am using your SSDT-T460-PS2K now. The trackpoint works great. So how should I adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad to get smooth control? Do I need to edit SSDT-T460-PS2K? If I do that, does it affect the trackpoint? Which line in SSDT-T460-PS2K should I adjust?

      What works and what does not

      - Processor: Intel Core i5-4300M ->  Work. All SpeedStep stages.
      - Video Card: Intel HD4600 ->  Work. QE/CI and Metal.
      - Chipset: Intel QM87 ->  Work.
      - Mini DisplayPort ->  Work. But no audio, yet.
      - VGA ->  Not work. Normal.
      - Audio: ALC292 ->  Work.
      - WiFi/Bluetooth: Intel AC 7260 ->  Not work. Replaced with DW1560 (need whitelist removal).
      - Ethernet: Intel I217-LM ->  Work.
      - Card Reader: Realtek RTS5227 ->  Not work.
      - Keyboard and Touchpad ->  Work.
      - Webcam ->  Work.
      - Fingerprint Reader ->  Not work. Normal.
      - USB3.0 ->  Work.
      - Sleep ->  Work.
      - Airdrop, Handoff, Instant Hotspot and Continuity ->  Work after replaced wireless.

      Extras

      - FullHD 1920x1080 display upgrade:
      Replaced with AU Optronics B140HAN01.1 30pin eDP (B140HAN01.2 and B140HAN01.3 also compatible).
      Apparently same screen as Dell Latitude E6440, E7440, Lenovo Ideapad U430 and E129.

      - CPU upgrade:
      Replaced the stock Intel Core i5 4300M 2.6Ghz (3.3Ghz turbo) 6M cache with Intel Core i7 4700MQ 2.4Ghz (3.4Ghz turbo) 6MB.
      I initially had problems with overheating. The processor ran at full load above 90 degrees.
      After using a quality thermal paste I can work between 70 and 80 degrees.
      Acceptable taking into consideration that the new processor has 47TDP versus 37TDP which is recommended.
      I also had no problem consuming the battery while charging. The original 65W source seems to have figured out.

      - Touchpad upgrade:
      Replaced the stock with T460 touchpad.
      This is serious: you have to do it! It should be stock. Touchpad with precision and absurd quality!
      Just do it!

      - RAM upgrade:
      No mistery here. Just upgade.

      Todo

      - Make DP audio work.
      - Make Card Reader work.
      - Upgrade CPU to i7-4712MQ (Ordered. It's on the way) Done, but received i7-4700MQ (47w TDP, with good paste I have no overheating)
      - Replace touchpad with T460 model (Ordered. It's on the way) Done. Sensitivity and perception of quality much better. I recommend 100%!
      - Sierra Gobi5000 4G LTE modem EM7355 (Ordered. It's on the way. I hope works. ) Done, but not work. Recognize but not connect. I already gave up...
      - Upgrade to 16GB RAM Done

      Wifi and Bluetooth (DW1560 / BCM94352Z)

      Unfortunately, some notebook manufacturers are currently blocking the replacement of wireless cards. They want you to only use the models sold by them. And of course, none of them from Lenovo for this notebook model is compatible with MacOS.

      If you try to start with an unauthorized wifi card for them, you will receive a screen error:
      1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the network card. Since this check is done directly in the BIOS, the only solution is to modify it.
      But since nothing is easy in this life, there is one small big problem:
      - The BIOS update procedure does not allow you to use modded files as it used to be.
      - You will need to physically reach your BIOS on the motherboard and make use of a USB BIOS reader/writer.

      So what you need to do:
      1. Disassembly your laptop;
      2. Dump your BIOS with an USB BIOS reader with SOIC8 clip (to not desolder from the motherboard);
      3. Patch it (In addition to removing the whitelist, add the advanced menu);
      4. Fix RSA signature;
      5. Reflash BIOS;
      6. Replace wireless card;
      7. Remount your laptop;
      8. Done.

      Soon, I'll provide step by step in this process. Probably until end of this week.
      In the meantime, if you need to, send me your dump that I do steps 3 and 4 for you.
      I also add the Advanced Menu so you can increase to 128MB the DRAM-prealloc.

      To fix a Modded BIOS to remove the 5 beeps on boot, you need this guide: https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/337333-guide-fix-insyde-h2o-bios-signature-5-beeps-on-lenovo (traduzido: pt-BR)

      After replaced the wireless card. Download those Kexts and put in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/

      - Download the AirportBrcmFixup.kext from here. I used the version 1.1.9.
      - Download the BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext and BrcmPatchRAM2.kext from here. I used the version 2018-0505.
      - Download the BT4LEContinuityFixup.kext from here. I used the version 1.1.2.

      Now you can start the instalation without problem (I guess).

      How install

      UEFI Setup Configuration and Installation

      UEFI configuration

      My BIOS is the latest: 1.93 (J4ET93WW)

      - Shutdown and insert the flash drive.
      - Power on with F1 pressed to enter BIOS setup.
      - Change value: Config - Intel(R) AMT - Intel(R) AMT Control to DISABLED
      - Change value: Security - Security Chip to DISABLED
      - Change value: Security - Anti-Theft - Intel(R) AT Module Activation to DISABLED
      - Change value: Security - Anti-Theft - Computrace to DISABLED
      - Change value: Security - Secure Boot to DISABLED
      - Change value: Startup - UEFI/Legacy Boot to BOTH, Legacy First and CSM Support = Yes
      - Save & Exit Setup (F10)

      - Now, hold the F12
      - In the list, select your flash drive.

      The installer will start.

      Format destination disk

      Format the disk with GUID partition mapping and name it "Macintosh".

      - Select Disk Utility in the list, then press Continue.
      - Click in View, then "Show All Devices".
      - Select the destination Disk, then Erase.
      - Name: HD, Format: APFS and Scheme: GUID Partition Map

      Close Disk Utility.

      Select "Install macOS", then Continue.
      Follow instructions in screen.

      After install

      After first part install the system will reboot. Maybe you have to press F12 again and select the flash drive.

      The second part of the installation will begin. This will take 16 minutes.

      Post installation

      Install bootloader

      When the second part of install finish, the system will reboot again.

      After performing the user initial setup and go to the desktop, you need to install Clover on internal disk.

      Open the Clover installer inside flash drive that you copied before.

      Use same options above but choose the system partition this time.

      Now you need to replace the config.plist inside your destination disk EFI parittion with config.plist inside flash card EFI partition.

      The flash drive EFI partition is unmounted. Mount with terminal "sudo diskutil mount /dev/rdiskXs1". To know what X is, use "diskutil list", most likely is 1.

      Last step

      Copy all Kexts from flash drive to /Library/Extensions, with those commands in Terminal:
      sudo cp -R /Volumes/EFI/EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/* /Library/Extensions/ sudo chmod -R 755 /Library/Extensions sudo chown -R root:wheel /Library/Extensions sudo kextcache -i / Restart the system.

      It's done!

      Updates

      System update 10.14.3

      - Updated with success;
      - Everything works perfectly after reboot;

      And last but not least
