Hello,

I was wondering if you would give me some advice. Does the VoodooHDA 2.8.9 stable work under Sierra if it is placed not in S/L/E but onto the EFI partition (CLOVER/kexts/Other)? VoodooHDA 2.8.5  works on the EFI partition under 10.11.x on my system without any problems for a long time. Two days ago I installed 10.12 on my test system (with VoodooHDA 2.8.9 on the EFI partition) and it did work too. After that, I installed 10.12 again, to have a “clear” new installation and now I can’t get VoodooHDA 2.8.9 work, it is not loaded, whatever I do. Was it a luck, that it worked on EFI, or I am doing now something wrong, what I earlier, by pure accident, did properly. Does Clover (I tried 3811 and 3799) have important switches, which can affect the VoodooHDA? Thank you.

It works for me in the EFI partition.  Make sure your kexts are in a folder entitled 10.12.  I had to rebuild kextcache a few times when I first installed Sierra for the first time.  If it doesn't work, put the kext in both EFI and S/L/E and let it run for a bit.  After a while, you can delete the kext in S/L/E and it should still work after you reboot.

Install AppleHDADisabler.kext and VoodooHDA.kext in L/E (not S/L/E) and forget about it. No DSDT edits, no config.plist edits ie Boot args or Device>Audio ID. Doesn't get any easier and survives updates.

Unfortunately, I did not succeed to get VoodooHDA work as long as it was placed on the EFI partition, whatever I did. But it does work without problem in L/E -   it is sufficient for me. Thanks guys!

By this patches I see

Node 0x15 = 21 SET_UNSOLICITED_ENABLE - this is possibility to switch between Speaker and Headphones. Already present.

If you want to make them independent devices then you can assing to Headphone new config

nid 21 0x03211020

 

Node 0x1b = 27. This node is unused. I don't think it should be enabled.

Sorry for the late reply, too many assignments and due this days.

 

I've tried in 10.12 and 10.12.1 without luck, Slice any idea   :poke:

I have both kexts namely AppleHDADisabler.kext and VoodooHDA.kext at location EFI/Clover/kexts/Others and I get below error message while booting up:-

This happens because the kest VoodooHDA started before IOAudioFamily that located in /System/Library/Extensions/.

My proposition is old like world. I always tell "Place all kexts into SLE"

the prefpane must be installed here, normally

/Library/PreferencePanes

I too just ran into this problem too after updating to 10.12.1

Was working perfectly on 10.12.0 running from the EFI partition.

 

Is it not possible to delay startup by a few seconds till IOAudioFamily loads?

Here's my patched VoodooHDA.  I have 3 nodes patched for each of the 3 audio devices that make up the Beats audio on my HP laptop.

If you have just upgraded from El Capitan to Sierra, be sure to put your modified/customized/third-party kexts in the kexts/10.12 folder in Clover.

 

You are missing 2 of the 3 patches needed to make all of your speakers work.  The patch should look like this:

DR.Hurt try adding the path 

\System\Library\Extensions\IO80211Family.kext\Contents\PlugIns\IOAudioFamily.kext

to force kext to load option in kernel and kext patches section of clover config. in bdmesg I looks like it will load forced kexts before clover kexts. make sure to use  not / for kexts path. if not clover will not find binary and fail as incomplete.

My Asus G750JX Laptop has Sub-woofer also known as v 2.1 Audio.  Would these settings enable Sub-woofer?  Laptop Audio Realtec ALC 282. The Binary patching is the same as ALC 282 but the Verbs/Configurations are not that of the standard ALC 282 controller.

Never saw this until now.  Sorry.  I doubt my node patches would work for you.  But if you run getdump that comes with the voodoohda.kext and post it here, I'll bet I can figure out what nodes to patch to get your subwoofer to work properly.

It looks right to me.  The nodes 0x185600f0 wouldn't work for internal speakers but for external connections I think they're ok.  So far, I have really only used the node patches to activate speakers on laptops that are not functional using the default setup for VoodooHDA.kext, which mirrors the setup for the AppleHDA.kext for the two-speaker setup of the MacBook/MacBook Pro.  Have you tried plugging in speakers that have a subwoofer?  Do you get good bass from the subwoofer? If you're only using a two-speaker setup, you won't get full 2.1 audio no matter what modifications you make to your audio kext.

      KX AUDIO DRIVER MOD
       
      Hi guys i am a small developer, i really like to use my sound blaster cards on my machines and i love also coding, so when i find the source code for the kx audio driver on git hub and then Eugene, the creator of kx audio driver decided to no longer maintain the project, i decided to start working on a mod of this driver and maintain it. 
       
      With my mod, created starting from the sources of the last official version of kx audio driver and all the small commiunity updates, i am working to keep the driver compatible with the latest mac os versions and to improove the driver over time.
       
      Supported cards are:
       
       - most of the Sound Blaster live!, live! 5.1 and live! 5.1 digital series (except for the cards not using the 10k1 architecture)
       - sound blaster pci 512 and pci 256
       - Sound Blaster Audigy, Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 zs series
       - E-MU cards based on the 10k2 sound chip (like the EMU8852 aka 0404m, including the pcie version)
       - Sound Blaster Audigy 4 (SB0610 only) and the Audigy 4 pro
       - Sound Blaster Audigy RX (SB0155)
       - other creative and e-mu cards based on the (10k1,10k2, 10k2.5 and CA10300 based cards)
       
      The NOT supported cards includes (but are not limited to):
       
       - ES1370/ES1371/ES1372/ES1373 based sound cards
       - Any CA0106 based card and cards with similar architectures (like sound blaster live! 24 bit, sound blaster audigy SE SB0570, audigy LS and similars, but audigy SA is supported)
       - Any sound blaster x-fi (some of them works on macOS using a modified version of voodoo hda)
       - Any sound blaster recon3D
       - Sound blaster Audigy FX
       - Any sound blaster Z/ZS/ZX and similar series
       - Any sound blaster AE5/AE7/AE9 series
       - Any sound card without an emu sound chip
      - Any ISA Sound card
       
      In the time being the things i have modded or added with this mod are:
       
      - cracking and stability fixes
       
      - added a more proper support for the pci express Sound Blaster audigy rx SB0155 (which basically is an audigy 4 with a pcie bridge chip) 
       
      - more user-frienly names for the cards in the settings and other system menus (so the name will be, for example, SB live! 5.1 SB0060 instead of kx SB0060 [e880] witch was shown in the original driver)
       
      - added support to sample rate changing and bit resolution change (the absolte worst supported quality is 7 khz at 8 bit dept while the absolute best is 192 khz at 32 bit depth)
       
      - inputs support
       
      - added boot args to manage the driver (more info on those soon)
       
      What i'd like to implement but i don't know how to do:
       
       - fix the support when using more than one card, to get all the cards shown in the settings and other menus,
       
       - have the gameport/midi port of older cards to be used in mac os as a midi in/out
       
      If other developers would like to join and help they are free to do so, this is a free open source project afterall, and also an hand from other people with testing and feedback will be nice.

      I'm currently using AppleALC inside /EFI/Clover/Kexts.
      Sound works fine through Laptop speakers. However, as soon as I connect my earphones, i start getting a continuous buzzing sound. Can anyone help me with this?

      I use AppleALC v1.3.5, I can see the device in system info but no sound. Any idea?
