Anyone has insight regarding to what has been changed with 10.12.4 in regard to a metal framework? For example, a game called obduction targets 10.12.4 or later. Warhammer going to be released very soon, more in inbound i think. I'm curious what's going on  :)

Hi frankiee

no I am not optimistic at all

Only I don't care..

for now I have a hack that Steve would define " fast Mac ever"....and this also only  changing my actual gfx with an old 980 ti(not full supported again)..and this maybe for many years again from now...

so I don't care of this apple choice to have an IOS machine for present and future.

You are quite optimistic ;) I mean we can be quite sure that at least Sierra never will get Pascal support. And depending on what Apple is up to, chances are very high that we won't get Pascal support with 10.13 either. And if we are really unlucky, we won't get Pascal support also with future versions, maybe NVIDIA support will even be dropped completely ... nearly all Apple hardware with NVIDIA chips inside is already obsolete, esp. the classic (aka "real") MacPros.

rumor has it, the new mac pro will come with gtx 1080 Ti, hence the pascal support.

actually I meanwhile got pretty accustomed to my windows with my gtx 1080, so I think I won't play around with hackintosh anymore.

Kinda off topic but not but is.

Is $595 a good price for 8G GTX 1070 Gigabyte G1 Gaming? To replace my 960.

AU$595.00 isn't actually too bad in Australia as it will include GST (from MSY or CPL?)

US$399.00 plus $17 for shipping comes in at AU$550.00 ex gst without AU warranty so you're actually better off buying locally.

Are you using Clover? What settings are you using for it? I tried installing it but I couldn't figure out the correct flags to boot with.

Really? That's it? No other options for Nvidia Graphics/Inject/npci=0x2000/etc?

I'll update my signature, but my MB is a Gigabyte GA-Z170N-WIFI, i7 6700 non-K CPU, 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming GPU, and Samsung 950 Pro NVMe SSD boot drive.

I'm not booted in so I don't know which system ID I'm using. Should I try changing it to 6,1 and using AGDpfix?

you have to boot with nv_disable=1 flag (and all the flags you need with your rig to boot in osx

then you have to instal web drivers and patch agdpfix..

Turn off your Intel GPU from bios and try again (with the cable on right place output )

No need inject nVidia and npci. Use iMac 14.2 smbios

Popup error is a common problem from Sierra 10.12.x OS X release with Asus X99 board

first time I install it and reboot panel is working..from second boot and on no!

maybe a nvram problem...I don't know

How do you fix policy? are you using in your x99 rig Mac Pro.6.1 smbios?

Success. Thanks for your help. I disabled all Nvidia references in Clover and just enabled nvda_drv=1. I installed and used AGDpfix and changed my SMBIOS model to MacPro6,1, and everything worked.

      I-5 Skylake/520 graphics/4gig RAM/UEFI boot/GPT
Any one had issues with supplemental updates and/or security updates booting very slowly after install and using approx. 750 more megs of memory? This has happened with recent updates to Catalina 10.15.1, Mojave security update 2019-001, and High Sierra security update 2019-006. I know that the first reboot after updates is usually slow but this problem with slow booting and hard drive thrashing persists after multiple reboots. It seems as though hard drive access is being channeled though a buffer. In one instance Catalina paused for a long time on reboot and a message appeared indicating that enough information had been found to re-enable the soft bloc. afterward Catalina booted normally but Mojave was booting so slow that it was practically unusable. After multiple reboots High sierra takes around a minute for the desktop to fully initialize after the login, but it was usable.
Does mac os use some kind of software input-output hard disk buffer that can be manually reset from the terminal? Disabling/enabling virtual memory paging seems to have no effect and the vm compressor mode is set to 2. The laptop only has 4 gig of memory but this has been enough to run all three os without boot issues in the past. Catalina on APFS, Mojave and High Sierra on HFS+.
      Any help appreciated.
