Sammis
I've made the exact suggested procedure using the 10.4.7 Jas disk. The installer run, but Disk Utility don't find any hard drive; it list only the Installation CD Rom on the left column. I have a HD with the first partition (NTFS) with Win XP Pro, and the new AF - active - partition of about 30 GB. I've repeated the procedure many times, with the same result. Any help? Rammjet
If your hard drive is SATA, then the SATA controller chip on your motherboard may not be compatible with OSX. OSX only supports Intel and VIA SATA controller chips. If the hard drive is ATA/PATA/IDE. then make sure your hard drive is on the same cable as your DVD drive. Set the hard drive to master and the DVD drive to slave using jumpers, not using cable select.
kemikal-aa
I have a VIA Sata controller but still no Drives are found by Disk Utility. Any suggestions on this issue???
GBK.Xscape
i think its that you havent formatted the drive yet. once you get to the palce to pick the drive go to utilities and then disk utitlity and then click the AF partition and then format the partition to Mac osx extended journaled. vvkk
My drive is an ATA drive. Does it have to be on the same cable as the DVD drive? Or can it work on another channel? I have already formatted a 20gb fat32 logical partition. thanks
kemikal-aa
I did all that formatting as well... a 40gb partition on a 250gb maxtor SATA drive w/ a via SATA on the board. When I installed OSX on my laptop it worked fine with the SATA built-in to that.
