El Capitan on GA-Z170X-Gaming 5

Hey guys,

I've been banging my head against this for the last week....

Okay so i was pumped to have bought:

Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 5

64 GB Corsair Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400 MHz

i7 6700K Skylake

2 x r9 280x's Sapphire 3 GB

480 GB SSD

128 GB SSD

4 TB HDD

1 TB HD

All 4 Monitors work on the R9 280x's (2 4k and 2 1080p)

I've installed OS X 10.11.4 and cant get:

- Ethernet (It shows up in System Report > Ethernet Cards but not in System Preference > Options)

- Sound (Even Voodoo is telling me my OS X version is incompatible with 2.8.8)

- Sleep (Seems like everyone but me has this working)

- Inject ATI (When i Inject ATI in Clover, it picks up on the R9 280Xs but only renders the 1080p screens, 4K doesn't work, unless i unplug one of the 1080p monitors)

I've done all the BIOS requirements, as in the beginning of this thread, installed fresh copies and still nothing....Is this an issue that is contained specifically to 10.11.4??

Please Help  :wallbash:

Hi there.

Use the following kext and place them under EFI partition in the following path: EFI/EFI/Clover/kexts/10.11

VoodooHDA 2.8.8 v3 must work unless you forgot to set these flags in your config.plist wrong make sure you set the following flags under boot sections: kext-dev-mode=1 and rootless=0

Sleep doesn't work on my computer either and I have no 4K displays so I don't know how to fix them.

Cheers

You are lucky then, or i'm unlucky.

Luckily i could mount the drive in windows, currently copying everything from the disk before the reinstall (why oh why didnt i do a timemachine backup)

EDIT: Think i found the issue, had intel virtulization IO active in the bios for some reason. This is not recommended, all my hfs+ disks have to be reformatted as they can't be repaired by the disk utility.

AMD R9 should be working just fine but there might be some hiccups with sleep or getting it to work with multi displays which you can find tons of posts about how to getting it to work.

I use an AMD Radeon HD 7790 with two displays and it's working just fine.

But if you are looking for a better Graphics Adapter that's another story.

Thanks Cyberdevs.

I need multimonitor support. I also want to dual boot hackintosh and windows(windows for gaming) so a amd 7790 does not quite fit for gaming. So i want to buy the right videocard that's proven to work (without to many tweaking/patching)

So any has recommendations? let my know;) thanks

You're welcome.

I know Radeon HD 7790 is an old vga and not good for gaming I just mentioned that because it works fine with multiple displays and as you can see on the first page of this topic you need to add some extra information in order to get the multi displays to work. Just to be on the safe side you might find nVidia 9 series graphic adapters (GTX 960, 970, 980) more suitable for you because they are easier to setup and the best choice in AMD family are AMD R9 390 and 395 which apple uses in the new iMacs.

Updated to OS X 10.11.5 through the MAS. Everything works, though my Hackintosh did freeze a couple of times in the last one hour.

Did you have to do anything besides update? Any kext mods etc..?

I'm actually looking at starting from scratch. New dsdt, ssdt, new kexts, new clover configuration as all I have now is a combination of everything in this thread and some is not needed anymore and it's a tad confusion. So maybe with 10.11.5 I can redo my whole install with fewer patches and kexts and have a more vanilla system.

Just a couple of questions, do you use VoodooTSCSync for i5-6600K? What C states have you enabled for the same processor? i'm asking these because i have a strange problem... i put my hack to sleep and sometimes (not always) when i press key to wake up its doing restart but not a normal restart as all the apps are open again like before going to sleep. has anyone faced a similar problem?

Nop, nothing. Even I was planning on doing a clean install, but the next version of OS X is just 2-3 months away. Why bother when everything is working just fine.

I updated to 10.11.5 Combo Update from Apple's website and everything is OK.

I don't use M.2 SATA but I know it should be working with some additional kext.

You can find more here at: http://www.macvidcards.com/nvme-driver1.html

Thanks,

this worries m(from the faq)

Q:  Can I boot from an NVMe drive?

A: No, not until someone writes a standards compliant EFI driver for the Macintosh.

I believe you can boot from it but you have to set your BIOS to use NVMe as the boot device.

Hi:

someone can help me?

I'm trying to install "el capitan" using a USB created in windows OS, but always I get the kernel panic "system timeup in nanoseconds"

My PC is:

CPU: Core i7-6700K

GPU: Intel graphics 530

MB: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 5

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT (16GB)

SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB

I changed various parameters of bios, but without results.

Make sure you have disabled serial port in bios.

If I disable the serial port, I automatically load in safe mode

What loads safe mode?

Windows or your motherboard?

Maybe read through this whole thread to get exact motherboard settings. Also make sure your using the latest bios to disable ioapic.

Lenovo T460 macOS with Clover Guide
Latest Release on GitHub Updated to Clover r4861 Updated Kexts Shift to use WhatEvergreen.kext SSDT updates for T460 Added Frank's T470p DSDT files Added T470 DSDT Remove kextunload/kextload in /etc/rc.sleep and /etc/rc.wake to avoid KP on sleep
Various Tweaks over Last months The zip file is a complete Clover ESP (/EFI) bundle and kext pack for the Lenovo T460. The current file bundle is tested on Sierra.
Note: I never got the GFX fully working on El Capitan.
Full Clover file set - config.plist etc. Includes all custom kexts Includes custom DSDT/SSDT scripts and patches Utility scripts The zip bundles are posted to GitHub: https://github.com/tluck/Lenovo-T460-Clover/releases
Caveat: The T460 systems used here was configured with: i5-6300U, Intel HD Graphics 520, 1920x1080 touch screen. If you have a different system model, then extract the ACPI files and use the included scripts to create a set of files consistent with your system type and BIOS version. See below for details.
Credits: RehabMan, Shmilee, vusun123, TimeWalker, Mieze from which, much of their work and help is/was was used to get the T460 to this point.
      Devices and aspects working:
Ethernet -  Intel I219LM is enabled via IntelMausiEthernext.kext WiFi/BT - substitute the Intel WiFi/BT with a compatible Broadcom or Atheros chip Audio - ALC293 codec implemented via AppleALC.kext (old AppleHDA_ALC293 and CodecCommander kexts are not needed) PS2 - ClickPad + TrackPoint + all 3 buttons - using a modified VoodooPS2Controller to support new layouts - and added some custom Fn key maps based on 440/450 dsdt USB - implemented via custom SSDT + USBInjectAll kext. All USB3/USB2 ports are intel-based and work -  3 external USB and internal Camera, BT, etc  Sleep/Wake - the sleepwatcher package and custom sleep/wake scripts are used to help with sleep/wake for BT and PS2 devices. Note: have not tried to implement the SD card reader - no driver found.
