King George
Hello to all, I've been struggling for weeks now to get myself a working copy of Final Cut Pro. (need it in college). It seems that there has not been a solution just yet. I'm using 10.4.7 on Intel Core Duo, with a Geforce Go 7600. Today I was at school, working on a PowerMac G5 (10.4.3) with Final Cut. I realise the answer is probably simple, but hell: why can this machine use a Geforce 6600 with Quartz Extreme and everything? I also saw that the new Mac Pro's partically use ONLY Geforce cards (7300). So I would like to know (out of interest) Why does Quartz Extreme not work in x86 machines, if they are perfectly fine in Apple computers? and Could it help to download and install OSX 10.4.3? (since the machine at school uses this version) Thanks a lot for answers on the biggest of all my questions.... Regards; KG
murcielago585
that's because apple uses the kernel to check these new kexts, and we have only been running the 10.4.4 kernel so far and you need at least 10.4.7 kernel to make these kexts work. read on here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=30517

Definitely, on mac QE/CI are part of the OS and part of everything you see and do. It will speed rendering, compression, redraw, everything
