Nvidia Web Driver updates for El Capitan (UPDATE 07/11/2018)

Very nice driver update!

Anyone know if these work on 10.11.1? I tried the B07 drivers and they did not work.

Thanks

Also,

How did you find this out? :)

GM drivers are working fine for me on the 10.11.1 public beta. You need to manually install them with a tool like Pacifist, then make the 15AXXX to 15B edit in NVDAStartupWeb like before.

And that looks like output from the 'metalinfo' app that netkas released over the summer.

I did install them via pacifist. but, I did not understand how to make the change in NVDAStartupWeb as its a binary fine.

The info.plist doesn't have that stated. Any kind of how-to or can you explain?

Also the tool to get the metal info: http://netkas.org/?p=1405

The change is in the plist inside the kext:

/System/Library/Extensions/NVDAStartupWeb.kext/Contents/Info.plist

Open it with any decent text editor (textmate, bbedit, etc.) and you should be able to edit the version it checks for, the specific key is:

NVDARequiredOS

default value: 15A284

change to: 15B

Many thanks!

I do see this now!

Hopefully there is no stability issues in 10.11.1 because on 10.10. its working wonderful with the new drivers

Lastest Yosemite Nvidia Drivers in 10.10.5, give me at least 50% more "power" than first Official Release for El Capitan. Nvidia GT440 .. Bad story ..

Hy,

I use 15B22c (10.11.1beta). I was able to use the latest web driver 346.03.02f01 only if i put the NVDAStartupWeb.kext in clover kext folder. If I modify on SLE location invalid signature error come up and do not load it. As do not know how to sign a kext I use this method. finally works.

In regard of Performance please see the attached pic. : Earlier fps was about 100-110 , currently 126-127. it looks a significant improvement.

metal :  please see the attachment 2. It means metal is OK, and supported?

Thanks for any comment.

Hy.

In regard of Metal I have no idea how to test especially the performance. The small tool posted here (metal.zip) can result a text output to show compatibility, but I do not know what we have to see to be sure 'metal is working'

Yep, and Metal is designed in focus of devices with small/lower CPU power. Like iOS devices.

The goal is to reduce cpu task overhead of opengl = faster Opengl.

The slower the cpu the more metal will have an effect. The faster the cpu much less effect because the gpu itself is the bottleneck at fast i7 / Xeon systems.

The worst case for metal ist very fast multicore CPU and slow-midrange gpu = in this case sure less than 10% metal speed effect, were slower (iOS & CO) cpus the effect can be >>100% speed advantage.

So apps (and OS X itself) will not be all "metalled" in short time. They developer will first - and this make sense - use metal for their iOS apps and games.

Is there native maxwell support for el capital?   I think when I installed Yosemite I had to use Mac Pro identity the install web driver before it would work with my GTX 750 ti.

      Greetings!

So I managed to get a Catalina 10.15 vm up and running in ESXi 6.7u2.
When I try to install Catalina updates, however, it goes to the Apple logo, status bar moving ever so slightly, reboots again and this time hangs on the Apple logo.  To fix this, I either remove or disable "Mac OS" as an option in the bootloader. Is there a way to get these updates to install?

      In the meantime...

I instead of restarting Catalina after choosing to update it, I shutdown the guest.  After a restart it SEEMED to update with the time duration countdown.

Prior to this I did run disk utility and checked Untitled and Untitled-Data for errors (I don't think it found any).

So I just logged back onto the VM and the version is still 10.15 and NOT 10.15.2 as hoped. So weird.

      Any ideas?

Clover r5101 ISO compiled with GCC and minimal config.plist compatible for use in VMWare Workstation.

Tested with unlocked Workstation 15 running OSX 10.9 -->10.15 guest in Windows X64 host.

      Installation
      1. Download and unzip "EFI_Clover_r5101 for VMware.zip". Mount Clover-v2.5k-5101-X64.iso by double clicking on it.
      2. Mount your VM's EFI System Partition eg in terminal
sudo diskutil mount disk0s1   3. Copy EFI folder from step 1 into the EFI partition
      4. Shutdown the VM, add bios.bootDelay = "3000" to your VM's vmx file
      5. Reboot your VM, press <F2> to access the VMware Boot Manager and add CLOVERX64.efi to the boot menu.

Substitute your own unique and valid MLB and ROM variables in the /EFI/CLOVER/config.plist (Rt Variables section) to activate iMessage/Facetime on your VM.

Pretty Much Everything I HaveTried And Researched
Hopefully That Will Help As I’m Confident I Should Have All Required Files But Not So Confident On How They Should Be Coupled
There Is A Guide On This Platform That Goes Over Installing This But What Is Demoed Is MacOS Sierra 10.12 When My Target Is 10.11 El Capitan  Everyone In The Comments That Tried El Capitan Either Have Out Of The Gate Sucess Or Gave Up And Went To Sierra The Problem Is Besides The Guide Author Correcting A Few Mistakes There Is No Actual Diagnosis And Help Given

For A While I Was Getting Nothing But A Black Screen After Moving Files I Finally Got An Apple Logo Great!..Not Really Because that’s all it would do.

I simply CAN NOT Get It To Boot No Matter What I Do Or Edit Please Help Or Provide EFI Folder That Will Work For Me
For Now Looking To Upgrade BIOS as I think it has something to do with firmware being to old as this PC Is usually never connected to Wi-Fi unless I need to download something and I cannot stress I have done everything under the sun to get this to even boot the installer

      I-5 Skylake/520 graphics/4gig RAM/UEFI boot/GPT
Any one had issues with supplemental updates and/or security updates booting very slowly after install and using approx. 750 more megs of memory? This has happened with recent updates to Catalina 10.15.1, Mojave security update 2019-001, and High Sierra security update 2019-006. I know that the first reboot after updates is usually slow but this problem with slow booting and hard drive thrashing persists after multiple reboots. It seems as though hard drive access is being channeled though a buffer. In one instance Catalina paused for a long time on reboot and a message appeared indicating that enough information had been found to re-enable the soft bloc. afterward Catalina booted normally but Mojave was booting so slow that it was practically unusable. After multiple reboots High sierra takes around a minute for the desktop to fully initialize after the login, but it was usable.
Does mac os use some kind of software input-output hard disk buffer that can be manually reset from the terminal? Disabling/enabling virtual memory paging seems to have no effect and the vm compressor mode is set to 2. The laptop only has 4 gig of memory but this has been enough to run all three os without boot issues in the past. Catalina on APFS, Mojave and High Sierra on HFS+.
      Any help appreciated.
