tomkiwi
Hey guys, i just borrowed my friends Mac OS X 10.4.5 Original DVD (which he got with his MacBook Pro). I've just downloaded the 10.4.8 AMD updatev2 aswell... Can i use the original disk to install OS X then use this patch to update it? Obviously i'm talking about an installation of the 10.4.5 on my AMD Athlon PC (yes, it has sse2,3 etc. Any help would be appreciated, Tom Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30444-os-x-1045-original-dvd/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
No. All Hackintoshes have to run a patched version of OSX. The 10.4.5 DVD won't even boot on a PC. You have to obtain one of the patched versions of OSX to install. Sorry for the stupid questions, i only decided to 'Mac my PC' yesterday . Rammjet
found a few JaS 10.4.7 downloads, what i'm looking for is the DMG version You don't want the DMG version unless you are going to open it in OSX. The DMG is a compressed DMG that the traditional Windows/Linux utilities cannot open properly. Look for the JaS 10.4.7 iso repack. tomkiwi
Thanks. Sorry, but i have one more query... My mac has a DVD burner but my PC doesn't, so how can i burn a DVD without a DMG? Or do i just download to my PC and run it from the install file without having to burn a DVD at all? I think if you mount it in os x first then burn it,you will lose the hybrid part of the iso. (the part you need to boot on bios pcs) just open toast 7.1 and burn that bad boy Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30444-os-x-1045-original-dvd/#findComment-210938 Share on other sites
Rammjet
You just have to get the file over to the Mac somehow. In that case, you can use the DMG. Or you can use the ISO. Disk Utility on a Mac can burn both. Just click the big Burn icon in the tool bar and point it to the disk image - either the DMG or the ISO.
