Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1, Model# 7347 - Is this hardware possible?

I was successful in emulating mavericks on VMware but would like to make use of the systems full hardware capabilities. Goal would be to run Xcode, Swift and related apps w/o issues with decent performance on Mavericks or Yosemite.

I have the i3 4030u which should not be an issue, but do worry about a dell motherboard. (or whatever it is)

Here is my CPU-Z info: http://valid.x86.fr/j1a9nz

You will never know untill you try. But am sure that you will not have wifi unless you swap your wifi card or use a usb wifi adaptor.

Audio you can get with patched applehda or voodoohda. Card reader is almost impossible on dell.

Just try and see the result and start working out the problem with kexts and dsdt patches.

Hello I too have the same laptop, but with i5 version, for THE INSTALLATION I used the method "Yosemite with clover efi" are driving with google, while for the kekt startup just put those necessary, I itilizzato driving "Yosemite of hp ".

As for the graphics just edit the SSDT, ....

It Works:

Graphics, brightness (using SSDT)

Usb seems ok

processor ok

battery ok

sleep test ....

sd ok

webcam ok

It does not work:

wifi

audio

after sleep usb

keys to change brightness

Excuse my English but I have translated with google .... I'm Italian!

I think that I'm first person who tryed to set up yosemite on this laptop ;)

So:

Graphics OK

Brightness control OK

Brightness control after sleep OK

Battery OK

USB OK

USB after sleep OK

Webcam OK

Audio with Vodoo HDA OK but some kind of reverb, sound works after sleep. Autoswitch to headphones work.

Audio with AppleHDA OK but some kind of reverb, sound doesn't works after sleep. Autoswitch to headphones work.

fn+F11, fn+F12 to change brightness OK

Issues:

1)Doesn't wake up from sleep sometimes

2)Yosemite doesn't start in 50% of tryes. I get apple on black screen and nothing else.

When I press power button it disables instantly like I was in the BIOS.

When I use -v flag then I get message UUID is.... and nothing else after that.

System log doesn't give me any information on that accidents.

How are you guys with this problem?

graphic ok (id 0x0a260006 + patch)

usb ok (to face after waking hangs)

webcam ok

luminosity ok

Brightness fn key no !!!

wifi usb d-link (but I ordered the Bradcom that will come soon)

Audio ok with AppleHDA also popo awakening .... with antitop

Battery ok ....

If you want I send you my dsdt-SSDT and the config of clover!

Hello, thanks for efi anyway or terminated for FN I modified DSDT and now works, as regards the black screen at startup, I'll explain:

1) using the SSDT-7 and inserting graphics as id --- 0x0a260006 = 0x06, 0x00, 0x26, 0x0a + patch in clover:

<dict>

<key> Name </ key>

<string> AppleIntelFramebufferAzul </ string>

<key> Comment </ key>

<string> 0x0a260006 9MB cursor bytes patch </ string>

<key> Find </ key>

<string> 0600260a01030303000000020000300100006000 </ string>

<key> Replace </ key>

<string> 0600260a01030303000000020000300100009000 </ string>

</ dict>

Start after sleep ok sometimes black screen at startup.

2) using the SSDT-7 and inserting graphics --- 0x0a26000a as id = 0x0a, 0x00, 0x26, 0x0a no patch

Start after no sleep (at the time) black screen no boot

Now I'm trying to solve for audio using AppleHDA,

Audio from pc ok, by no headphones, no hdmi ....

As I get home I'll send you the link of my efi ...

What is the Yosemite version do you use now?

10.10.1. or 10.10.2?

I used only 1 clover patch in ig-platform-id section of clover configurator when I was on 10.10.1.

But now I'm forced to use FakePCIID_HD4600_HD4400.kext + FakePCIID.kext + SSDT Fix solution because I'm using 10.10.2 now.

Hello sorry if I answer now, but I was out of the area!

How utlizzo the version 10.10.2

For graphics currently the best solution I use is to change the SSDT-7 using as ig-platform 0x0a26000a, for the FULL QE / CI I used this guide:

I also replaced the wifi card with this:

Perfect, just ulizzare the kext + update BT (or used vietnam tools) and recognized perfectly!

I remain to settle the problem of the awakening of the monitor (monitor off) while the sleep complete works perfectly;

Audio to HDMI

You've solved with audio?

I am running Mac OS X 10.10.3 (Yosemite) on my Dell Inspiron 2 in 1, installed on a 64 GB SD Card, using Clover. I have just followed the instructions posted here. Most of times everything runs ok! I´ve bought Linksys 6000 Wifi dongle. Sound works good from the speakers with VoodooHDA.

Video running with full acceleration and I am able to share my screen through HDMI or Airplay.

No mic. Touchscreen ok, keyboard and touchpad ok with PS/2 kexts.

Now I have two alternatives, because I did not touch the original hard drive, I can run Yosemite on VMware and native on my machine.

Facetime, iMessages and App Store functioning.

Does the your sleep works after sleep?  What dsdt patch did you use for usb 3.0 to wake up from sleep?  I used genericusbxchi.kext with -gux_defer_usb2 for kernel flag.  It sleeps when computer is on battery but instantly wake when AC is plugged.   I am using chameleon and not clover.  Can you sent your DSDT and SSDT?  Thanks.

I even gave my MacBook air to my sun, running everything exclusively from my 2 in 1!

Sometimes it wakes up ok, others not... At random... When I get a black screen I can get it back just pressing the power button... I can upload my EFI partition, but I don´t think I did anything different!

jnrfst:

What graphics do you have? HD4400, or HD5500? Figure out the CPU, then the graphics, then google a guide to enable it.

Does anyone have the battery icon working via SSDT (or DSDT)? I have the newer model with the HD5500, but figure all that should still be the same. (I haven't really googled, sorry! ;p)

Also, often when I reboot I seem to get a CMOS reset (goes to HDD detect, generic hardware troubleshooting, loud beep). I patched RTC in DSDT, what else might prevent that?

If anyone is still trying to get HDMI audio to work, it looks like a FakePCIID to change the HDMI ID to one that is supported would work. Saw it on he who shall not be named's site from Nguyenmac, but he also posts over here. Have not tried it yet as HDMI is rather far down on my list.

New here, I used to do macs but mainly PCs now. So please excuse my ignorance. Mac stores are closed in Arizona, My friend has a circa 2015 Macbook Pro.  On startup, the line goes about halfway and then goes to a spinning icon that goes on and off.  I did a disk repair and permissions , but it still does the same.  So I tried to reload the OS, it says not found, apparently you cannot download Yosemite anymore.  So, the rest of my machines are windows.  Where do I get Yosemite and how can I build it on a Windows machine that I can have the Mac start up. Help please.

I have put together this simple little guide for anybody wanting to use a Patched DSDT EFI with the same configuration as me.
This is also a thread to discuss everything Z390 Pro and try and help where we can and maybe make things a little better for you.

A huge massive thank you to @glasgood @MaLd0n @larabee These three guys have helped me and talked me so much and are as helpful as you could ever get, Without them I wouldn't have a perfect working build like I do or be putting up this Guide & Discussion Thread sharing the hard work and countless hours that we have all put in to this.

(If you want a perfect setup then getting your own patched DSDT made would be the best thing to do, Mine will work perfectly fine but different hardware no matter how small a change it is can tend to have some sort of effect on the DSDT and your setup)

      Description
This esentially an ultra-simplistic version that is stable without the use of a deploy or complicated file installations and copies. Highly recommend using DW1560 wifi card, killer wifi isn't supported. This does include a copy of Clover, which of course I take no credit for. I am only responsible for minor changes in files and plists, as well as placement and instructions throughout the guide (as well as the work used from previous projects). Many files and ideas are sourced from @maz-1, @syscl, and my previous guides Granted, many files are similar or the same but there is significantly less of them and/or they are predeployed into spots where they will work just as well, even if not as efficient on bootup. Esentially, this guide is designed to provide a perfectly working setup with little knowledge of the topic and without optimization (because often they can break things). Most patches on the main plist use patches implemented by him as well. ****This guide does work excellently however and will provide you with a near perfect setup for Catalina for your XPS 9350, and is currently my daily driver as I struggled using the referenced users files as well.
      Styling
This guide is designed to be literally as thorough as possible to appeal to those who really don't understand many of the things in @maz-1's guide or some of the other users as they assume you would already understand this information. It does not cover complex topics like undervolting etc etc Notes
Never tested USB C except for charging, works great no issues with sleep, wakeup. power management is defaulted as I found with @maz-1 it had issues when on battery switching from AC USB devices eject on sleep (not really an issue) Haven't implemented a Bluetooth solution into this yet, as I don't really use it -- will be added ASAP (I believe KILLER WIFI will NOT work, must use one of the supported chipsets (DW1560 is excellent) BIOS Setup
Set all SATA operation as AHCI Disable Secure Boot, Fast Boot For Coil Whine improvement disable C-States Enable UEFI Booting Recommended: Clean Install (Preinstall steps)
Format a USB (16GB) as Journaled and then proceed to download the latest Catalina Installer Patcher Application Download the latest Catalina installer from within the Patcher App, and select to download a new copy and install to your USB device Download the clover configurator application and mount the EFI of the USB partition, then copy the contents of the Files linked above to the EFI Folder within the EFI partition. ** This is because the App Store installers will often not download a full installer, just an truncated version that downloads the installer files from the interent while installing. Thus, they're not bootable from a USB as they're not complete. That is why you should use this method to make sure the installer is usable for bootable media.
      Install Steps
Simply use F12 to boot from the USB device, and select the USB Device and then boot from the Install mac OS partition. I have defaulted the installer to boot into verbose mode so I can easily see the errors you guys are seeing if you encounter them. If everything goes well, you can disable these from the boot arguments selection of Clover Configurator Boot into the USB Device, and follow the steps to format your SSD from the installer to install Mac OS Catalina. NOTE THE TRACKPAD WILL NOT FUNCTION AT THIS POINT, BUT THE TOUCHSCREEN WILL. This is caused by the way the installer handles Kext loading but because the touchscreen is being loaded via usb and the keyboard in a different method (which I can explain in detail if you'd like, the install will be possible. Do not be alarmed if the installer takes a long time to boot into, this is expected Once you have done this step, use F12 to select the USB and boot into the installer from the SSD in the options menu. (you cannot boot natively yet as the EFI isn't copied into the SSD yet. Setup computer as normal, touchpad, brightness, etc, should all be functioning at this point. Same with wifi. Then, you should using Clover configurator copy the contents of the USB EFI into the EFI folder of your SSD EFI partition (in the folder) Now we will add this as a native boot option. Setup computer as normal, touchpad, brightness, etc, should all be functioning at this point. Same with wifi. Then, you should using Clover configurator copy the contents of the USB EFI into the EFI folder of your SSD EFI partition (in the folder) Now will we add this as a boot entry so you can always boot from this natively without the USB. Boot Entry Setup
Boot into the BIOS of the computer, then navigate to the Boot setup (or entries (not sure what it is called exactly, but it will be a list of the options your computer selects to boot) Click add new, and make sure the USB isn't plugged in. Select the only option that is avaiable, and in FS0 navigate to Boot/BOOTx64. Add this as an entry, then select this as whatever priority you would like. Credits
Credit Hackintosher.com for basic patches (although @syscl) covered some Credit to @Rehabman Credit to @syscl Kexts, and his contributers (@maz-1) Messages and Facetime
Using Clover Configuator generate your own Serials, Board Numbers, MLB There are various guides online to do this and as default they're set to essentially Null (Fakeserial) This is fairly straightforward and there is lots of documentation, just don't open these apps until you've done this properly. Finished!
