Snow Leopard No display after installation.

Hi there,

I am new to the forums, but am extremely keen to get into running OSX on my pc. I have managed to follow enough instructions to get the OS installed but I must now face defeat as I come to you for help.

I am trying/have successfully installed Snow Leopard on my Dell Inspiron 1520 albeit with difficulty.

Specs:

Intel Core2Duo T6600 2.2GHz 800mhz FSB

4GB DDR2 667Mhz dual channel

Intel GMA x3100

80GB HDD set to AHCI (i have no spare :( since this is a spare computer I use to trial Linux or stuff)

Now my problem is, I get a black screen on install, I believe it to be my graphics card. This happens after the first initial boot, I am unable to install kexts or even run the first time setup but I know it is running because I can hear the pop of the volume as i press the Up/Down Buttons.

I tried installing different versions of OSX (Lion and some from my sisters cd's with the mac which I cannot touch not in 1000000 years)

But i get a kernel panic about AHCI.

The only version that actually works is IATKOS Snow Leopard. But this is what I get the black screen on. Uhmm oh yes,

one time I heard "staying alive" playing with a black screen. and after 10-30 minutes of leaving the computer idle i pressed the power button thinking it had frozen but then the display started working, and I was able to get into the desktop. Silly me decided to shut down the computer. Since then, after ever install, I have had a black screen.

Uhmm oh a few times I decided to hook up to my external monitor but on boot the apple logo froze. and the spinning wheel doesnt move. if i try switch back to the laptop screen, the screen bleeds from grey to white.

Oh nearly forgot. I cannot install DSDT for my laptop unless theres a way to do it from i boot or before getting into the desktop which i cannot do. umm ah I have tried -x -v DSDT=No GraphicsEnabler both on and off and acpi=no? or 0 whichever one.

I am really keen to get it running, Also I use chameleon bootloader but i dont install it to hard drive, when it says select disk i select disk0s2 but it says it cant find the disk.

I guess the main thing id like to know is, can i install my dsdt from i boot or before the OS can initialize? I have a 1520 dsdt waiting.

Thanks to all! I am willing to provide any information if needed.

Hi!

Thank you for your reply! I managed to install snow leopard after finally working the chameleon bootloader from the install wizzard on my 60gb external usb HDD.

everything bar a few is working, I noticed my intel 3945 wireless card will not work with hackintosh and my ethernet/ optical drive/ camera doesnt either.

my display driver also doesnt exist, Im running at 1024x768 when my screens native is 1280x800

Would upgrading to Mountain Lion bring added drivers?

Using ##### broke my install previously and doesnt contain intel gpu drivers... So if mountain lion would fix a few missing things like dvd drive and gpu be better then I shall gladly install that.

Also I used transmac to install the .dmg seemed to work fine.

im keen to see how i get this baby working, i realize ill probably need a new wireless card :/ which i cannot afford.

      Hi,

I followed the AMD OSX Vanilla Guide and managed to successfully build my first hackingtosh.
Everything works great EXCEPT for my MSI - Radeon RX 580 8 GB GAMING X.
I ran some benchmarks (and tried World of Warcraft) and I am getting ~50% of the performance I am usually getting in Windows 10.
Unigine Heaven reports ~950 vs 1750 in Windows and World of Warcraft runs @ 30 fps lowest settings vs 60 fps ultra settings in Windows.

Here are the kexts I am using:
AppleALC Lilu NullCPUPowerManagement RealtekRTL811 VirtualSMC WhateverGreen
I should mention that this is an AMD hackingtosh running on Ryzen 5 1600 3.2 GHz 6-Core Processor.

I read and I completely understand that I should not expect 100% performance. But I believe a 50% drop is out of the ordinary.

If anyone has ideas on what I could try to up the performance it would be greatly appreciated.

      Thank you!

      Hey everyone,

after years I come back to Hackintosh. In the early days I played with ozmosis and my good old 4700k. Now I'm back and worked around a 100% working setup with enough power to get me through all my tasks like audio, video cut etc.

In this short tutorial I will guide you through BIOS Settings and give you access to my EFI Folder. This I do because I haven't found anything on the web for my setup. Maybe it will help some of you. When you follow the steps you will have a perfect running Hackintosh like I do have now

I've chosen the iMac 18,3 because of the easy integration of both Graphic Units and the support of HEVC.

      Specs:

CPU: Intel i7 9700k (Overclocked in Bios to 4,7 GHz)
SMBIOS: iMac18,3 (Because of Dedicated Graphics and HEVC Intel Support)
      RAM: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200 DIMM CL16 (XMP Profile to 3200MHz)
Motherboard: MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON (MS-7b17) <- It's the model without WLAN/Bluetooth
      Graphic Card: Sapphire RX580 Nitro+
Bluetooth & WLAN: Broadcom Card in PCI Adapter

      What is working:

Almost everything! All USB Ports, Intel Power Management, Bluetooth, WLAN, LAN, Intel Graphics HEVC, Boot/Reboot, Sleep

      What is not working:

Facetime & iMessage (Don't need it but I will come back to this)

      Steps:

      1. Create Mojave 10.14.5 USB Drive | https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CZDXxKfodE&t=95s | Us this tutorial or search the forum
      2. Load my EFI Folder: https://workupload.com/file/zkJ4zdQk
      3. Go into your bios and use my settings in the Screenshot I attached
      4. Boot from USB Stick | Install Mojave | Boot into Mojave (Check other Tutorials if you don't know how)
      5. Generate Serials with Clover Configurator
      6. Happy Hackintosh Life!

      Kext I use:

      AppleALC.kext | Needed for Sound
      BrcmFirmwareData.kext | Needed for my WLAN/Bluetooth Card
      BrcmNonPatchRAM2.kext | Needed for my WLAN/Bluetooth Card
      BrcmPatchRAM2.kext | Needed for my WLAN/Bluetooth Card
CodecCommander.kext | Fix Problems after Sleep
CPUFriend.kext | Perfect Power Management for my CPU
CPUFriendDataProvider.kext | Perfect Power Management for my CPU
      FakePCIID_Broadcom_WiFi.kext | Needed for my WLAN/Bluetooth Card
      FakePCIID.kext | Needed for my WLAN/Bluetooth Card
      FakeSMC.kext | Standard
      IntelMausiEthernet.kext | Ethernet
      Lilu.kext | Standard
USBInjectAll.kext | To fix all USB Ports
      WhateverGreen.kext | Needed for graphics

If you have success with my little tutorial and EFI Build let me know! Hope you reach the desktop and will be happy!
