jonisign
I'm wondering if its possible to force OS X to allow for the higher scaled high DPI modes like 2560x1440 on a 4K monitor. If I try to get mavericks to accept a 5120x2880 scaled resolution (which would be required to make a HiDPI 2560x1440 setting), it won't accept it.I'm using a real MacBookPro11,1 (13-inch rMBP from 2013). Is there any way to "trick" OS X into thinking that I actually have a MacBookPro11,2 or MacPro6,1 so I can get the higher DPI modes? Of note, I was able to get SST 4K output at 51.75Hz on this thing by modifying the right system files, so I'm not sure why Apple is crippling this thing. I'm posting this here because I'm betting that a lot of other hackintosh users are having similar issues getting appropriate HiDPI settings using haswell's IGP under 4K... it seems like this is a similar issue. Is there a way to make a real mac think it is a different model by modifying the SMBIOS.plist? Is there a way to make a real mac think it is a different model by modifying the SMBIOS.plist? Its possible to change smbios. I suceed it with Clover. I have refind installed all the time and i used refind to boot clover from usb stick. All injections are turned off in config.plist, added smbios of choise using clover configurator. And deleted all drivers from clover folder. other method will be to use Apple Service Toolkit - AST OS to change serial to MacBookPro11,2 but i didnt test it my self. aphex6b
Did u try it with SwitchResX? Since 10.9.3 apparently apple made changes also for using HiDPI on lower spec cards http://9to5mac.com/2014/05/20/os-x-10-9-3-quietly-increases-vram-on-newer-macbook-pros-and-macbook-airs-perhaps-to-improve-4k-performance/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/298213-hidpi-in-mavericks/#findComment-2022000 Share on other sites
