Lose Wireless and DVD after second reboot

Install

I used the JaS 10.4.7 installer for my AMD system.

For installation options I chose the AMD combo and amd kernel, but not intel sse2 or 3.

The install works beautifully then system reboots.

Next time I log in, it asks for keyboard type, wireless key, everything is great with wireless networking, etc..

After reboot :)

However, next time I reboot I have no wireless connection and the OS won't even let me try to set up a wireless card because it doesn't recognize an airport card. Also, the OS doesn't even recognize the DVD drive after the install.

Should I try a different image? I hear the Jas 10.4.6 might have better AMD support. How about the goatsecx or Myz? Do i need to patch the kext. Thanks in advance!

System specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Clawhammer with SSE2

MSI RS428M-IL with ATI chipset

Geforce 6600GT

Linksys Wireless G card with Broadcom chipset

Mitsumi DVD +/-/RW.

1st HD: SATA with XP

2nd HD: PATA (ide)

Partition 1: active ubuntu linux /boot

Partiton2: active OSX created from xp. diskpart> create partition active id=af, then reformmated to osx journaled using diskutility.

Okay, i installed JaS 10.4.7 on My Dell 8400 Pentium 4HT.... I installed the wireless card patch and See2 and JAS 10.4.7 decrypt Patches form the DVD and than started osx fine. When I got to the osx dektop for the first time the wireless detected connected fine. But when I restarted for the first time it stopped working. I cant get wireless to work at all, Under the wireless Icon it just says there is a airport card but its not configured(greyed out). I can also see the PCI card under the system info. Did a full reinstall and same effect. On inital boot after install wieless works it even asks for my wpa2 key and I can connecct, but than I reboot and bam it stops working. Any help would be appreciated thanx.

I had a vaguely similar problem. On the first reboot after installing a new kext to support my DVD drive it worked, but on the reboot after that it didn't. It was a permissions problem. Repair your permissions, using diskutil or by hand, making sure the ownership details for the relevant kexts match those of the other kexts.

Dunno if that's it for you, but it sounds like the problem I had and that's how I fixed it.

Go to /library/preferences/systemconfiguration then edit networkinterfaces.plist. Change en0 to en1 and change integer 0 to integer 1.

Fix disk permissions, then reboot. Go to networking and it should detect your wireless.
