AmdCPUMonitor and HWSensors 3.3.1

I made new kext as an addition to HWSensors v3.3.

Compatibility with OS 10.6 - 10.10

Currently it show only CPU temperature. May be later I make voltage and frequencies. Voluntaries welcomed.

 

I am not sure with kozlek's project compatibility. Test with precations.

(kozlek's version is not newer. It is a branch with own enumeration)

 

Manual testing without installation:

sudo -s
chown -R root:wheel ~/Downloads/AmdCPUMonitor.kext
chmod -R 755 ~/Downloads/AmdCPUMonitor.kext
kextutil -v ~/Downloads/AmdCPUMonitor.kext

This kext v1.0 attachicon.gifAmdCPUMonitor.kext.zip

Other files in the project (don't install all of them! For example you don't need IntelCPUMonitor)

New FakeSMC with Illumination version in System Profiler and no warnings in kernel.log

Minimum set includes FakeSMC+HWInfo

 

 

Recommended installation (I have no installer so I propose you will use Terminal.app)

sudo -s
cp -r -v ~/Downloads/HWSensors/AmdCPUMonitor.kext /System/Library/Extensions/

and so on for all kexts that will have a sense for you

ACPIMonitor.kext     - for devices in DSDT. Only for advanced users!
AmdCPUMonitor.kext   - temperature for AMD CPU
Andigilog.kext       - for andigilog chip. Found on some Intel motherboard
AnalogDevices.kext   - for chips like ADT7470-7475
F718x.kext           - for Fintek chip
FakeSMC.kext         - obligatory for any Hackintosh
GeforceSensor.kext   - for new NVidia Geforce cards
HWInfo.kext          - if you use Clover bootloader
ICHSMBus.kext        - an addition for Andigilog.kext
IntelCPUMonitor.kext - temperature, voltage and frequencies for Intel CPU up to Haswell
ITEIT87x.kext        - for ITE chip, found on most Gigabyte motherboards

So I tried to install it but installation fails due to some error. But I can still see new HWMonitorSMC app installed. But it show only Hard disk temp nothing else. More over Now I have started to freez during restart and my external hdd is now being recognized as Read Only.

How do I uninstall it now?

The drivers that are not suitable for your hardware, you have to remove from Fakesmc.kext/ ... /plugin/ folders. Or add missing drivers in the pluging folder. you need to test.

Alright I've tried - same result, I had even delete all drivers and left only fakesmc.kext and amdcpumonitor.kext in Contents/Plugins.

edit: I think it's not compatible with my type of CPU, the driver should be updated for compatibility. But it's ok, for now will be enough GPU sensor.

      Follow the OpenCore AMD Vanilla Guide, everything works fine iMessage, Siri, FaceTime, Continuity, Airdrop, Audio, WiFi
      But here is the problem
      Once I restart or shutdown and reboot, I will have kernel panic, so i have to reboot once again, then no more kernel panic, straight back to the system.

      I'm looking for the best route to achieve this upgrade, so I have been stuck with HS since Nvidia drivers stopped being supported on newer MacOS releases. Now I'm having an AMD 5700 xt on the way and want to plan the upgrade properly. I have added some information below and questions that might help with your recommendation.
       
      Current GPU 1080 ti with Nvidia webdrivers installed. So should I uninstall the webdriver before adding the new GPU? Clover is being used and EFI attached. Any kext must be removed? or parameters adjusted MacOS HS 10.13.6, should I upgrade before using the new GPU? CPU: 9900K Motherboard:ROG MAXIMUS XI HERO (WI-FI) Dual Monitors I have a Time machine backup, Do you recommend a fresh install? and If I did, will I be able to restore my data/apps as-is?  
      Please let yourself free to explore further aspects to considers.

      Hi, I've an old machine (see the signature) that I want to use for xcode , when I'm too lazy to take my macbook pro. I tried install Sierra, and worked surprisingly well, but sadly it doesn't support the latest version of xcode. I tried to update to High Sierra, but in the first boot everything goes black. So I tried a clean install, and had the same result. Tried Mojave with the telemetry plugin hack (as I've not SSSE 4.2), and the installation went smooth, but in the first login, I've a mouse pointer (which moves!) over a blinking screen, gray and black, and seems stuck. Tried several SMBIOS, changing the Display port, HDMI, LILU with WhateverGreen, but with these 2 the verbose freezes pretty soon (if needed I can make a screenshot). So I know that this card should work OOB, but I've also seen that several people had this problem, but honestly I didn't figured it out how to continue. My pc doesn't have any integrated gpu.
      Please help me, I'm stuck!

      Don't mix 6.18 and 3.41.
       
      There are three different projects for monitoring temperatures, voltages, fans speed and other hardware parameters:
      Initially it was FakeSMC with plugins for producing SMC keys for hardware parameters for different hardware. But sometimes ago Kozlek separated own version of FakeSMC and producing new set of plugins while I stay with good working version 3. So..
      1. FakeSMC v3 with Hardware Sensors3  which I still supported.
      2. FakeSMC v6 (rev1800) by Kozlek and supported by Rehabman. AFAIK both are abandoned and the project is not supported. Or may be maintained by coauthors.
      3. New VirtualSMC by vit9696 with own set of sensors kexts. It depends on Lilu.kext. The project is in active development.
      All three project have incompatible interfaces sensors<->SMC so they are incompatible with each other.
       
      There are applications for monitoring hardware parameters and they commonly depends on these projects.
      1. iStat, iStatMenu, iStatPro compatible with real Macs because they use SMC keys just like those presents in real Macs.
      2. HWMonitorSMC by Navi (initial codes from Kozlek)  used in my HWSensors3.
      3. HWMonitor by Kozlek with graphics like in IntelPowerGadget used in his HWSensors version.
      4. HWMonitorSMC2 by Vector_Sigma tends to be universal supporting all project. It also may use sensors information produces by Apple graphics and by IntelPowerGadget.
       
      Let us discuss here differences and common ideas for this projects.
