k3nny
@ericsia-newbie: It has an EFI BIOS. You can modify the executable using Phoenixtool. However PMPatch doesn't find anything to unlock and my guess would be that you get the kernel panic because of the CPU.

Dr. Hurt
Dude, stop confusing yourself. Your BIOS does NOT have to be patched to install OS X. Just put the attached kext in the /Extra/Extensions folder and you'll be OK... NullCPUPowerManagement.kext.zip

Dr. Hurt
OH!! Your laptop is too old for OS X. If you insist on trying though, try overriding the system model in smbios. In the config.plis add the following <key>SMBIOS</key><dict><key>ProductName</key><string>MacBook5,1</string></dict> But it would be easier buying a new laptop.... Thats why I told you that your hardware is too old. It won't have graphics acceleration which will make the experience abysmal at best, if not unusable. Just buy a newer laptop!! Dr. Hurt
I personally use ebay. But I'd rather not suggest any stores. Just search for Toshiba Satellite or Dell Inspiron and check the ratings of the seller.
