RamboIV
So I've just installed OSX on my desktop PC. Intel Pentium 4 ~ 3.06ghz I installed the SSE3 and Intel Combo update from the installation disk I burnt, and get this error: panic(cpu 0x0019c352):Unresolved kernel trap (CPU 0, Type 0=divide error), registers: Could someone help please Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29443-boot-problem/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
Try turning off hyperthreading in BIOS. During boot, as soon as the screen turns black, start tapping the F8 key quickly and repeatedly until a command prompt appears. Enter cpus=1 at the prompt. If that works, you can enter that parameter under Kernel Flags in the boot.plist. RamboIV
I tap F8 and I am unable to boot in a command prompt appears. Say I was to reinstall it, shall I leave out the Intel Combo updates? And just select the SSE3 patch? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29443-boot-problem/#findComment-202818 Share on other sites
Rammjet
You have to time the F8 tapping just right or you miss it. As soon as the screen turns black, start tapping. Don't just tap once or twice. Tap like crazy like you were trying to kill monsters in a game. Leaving out the Intel Combo update will mean that you don't get the latest version of OSX (10.4.6 or 10.4.7, depending upon which you are installing). And I'm pretty sure it won't solve your problem. RamboIV
I downloaded the: MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz.iso However, last time I installed it without that 10.4.6 update the screen just stayed blue with the black cursor. I left it for 10minutes and nothing loaded, so I did an install with the update. Rammjet
That's all great, but read what I said in posting #4 about hitting F8 and about the Intel Combo update. RamboIV
You think I did not try that? I tapped like mad, and all I got was a continous beeping from my motherboard. So in the customize list I have selected: 10.4.6 Combo Update Intel SSE2 Patch Now I am clicking install..
